Pregenerated/Tournament Characters for G1-3 or D1-3

I was reading someone's review of Gary Gygax's venerable module Steading of the Hill Giant Chief when the reviewer mentioned sample player characters included. I dusted off my copy and looked, but no such characters were present.

Were characters added to a later version?

Does anyone have information on the original tournament characters provided when the scenario was first run at Origins?

I would love to know what the characters were, their names, and how much magic they were given.

You need the G1-2-3 compilation to get the pregens.

Here are the fronts of the 1978 tournament character sheets for Fonkin Hoddypeak and Beek Gwenders. They are labeled "Gen Con XI D&D Tournament", and use the 1977 Character Record Sheets. There's a $0.50 price tag on the first one, so they may have been sold these at the tournament, or someone sold these copies later on.

I grabbed these images from an auction, I think it was a Collector's Trove auction of Allan Hammack's collection. These are the only two that I have, and there's no images of the back of the sheets.
