Recently I bought a book on Josef Hoffmann's paintings for the first Bayreuth production of Wagner's Ring Cycle: lush, leafy, immersive, otherworldly -- just great source images for the imagination. (Hoffmann was the production designer, or set designer).

Sorry about the thread necromancy, but I found something. Tanya Miller is a contemporary artist rather than a Romantic-era painter, but her style is a good fit for this thread. Paintings

PaintingsBeautiful stuff! Very impressive! A touch of Bosch, a dash of Fergus Hall, and some other influences that slip the tongue.

I sometimes look at the Reaper forums. At least one poster is drawing inspiration from Tanya Miller's works.
