I didn't want to resurrect an old thread, but earlier this year, I posted about creating a supplement to the mass combat rules "Book of War" called "The Fellowship", which provided guidelines on how to include a party of PCs into a mass combat scenario. I finally had a chance this weekend to put it into action, with the PCs assaulting an orc fort alongside a force of about 190 humans. The game, the supplement and the outcome were all fantastic, and I wanted to share the link to the AAR with you all... derv, I think you were looking for something like this? So far, my approach seems to hold. chgowiz-games.blogspot.com/2015/12/my-holy-grail-found-mixing-mass-combat.htmlPictures, story and AAR - all in one.

chicagowiz , I've been waiting for this play report since you posted the pics of the palisades. Looks like it worked out nicely. So, the humans won the day and all went as planned. You know, I hear that orcs are very vindictive. At least they are in my campaigns. I think that fort may get some more use yet

Here's a picture of the ECO Castle (very similar to Elastolin) I use for the standard King's Legions keep... And the palisade walls are such that I can reuse them in different configurations. I may make a couple more just to have options. I also need to straighten one of them up. I'm very pleased that the Book of War game and my houserules worked well. We'll see the next time skirmish or mass combat comes up, what goes differently. As the PCs gain levels, I imagine they might end up having a few armies of their own.

Shoeless Joe would have had fun with this one. The whole tenor of the campaign is different now. A lot of hope, a lot of getting things done. Versus the grinding hopelessness. They're still working on the Monastery, but I think that's going to be cleaned out and finished. They've set their sights on the city of Irecia...
