Has anyone read the new 5th Edition Metamorphosis Alpha? I'm thinking of getting the PDF but was curious to see a review. Is there much in the way of setting material or is it mostly just game rules? Are the rules any good?
I know people have been waiting for this for a long time, someone must have read it by now but I can't find any reviews.

The book is mostly rules. I didn't get much of a setting feel. Strangely, the strongest impression I ever got from MA was from the reference in the old AD&D DM guide. The rules read like most RPG video games like fallout, skyrim, Red Dead etc.. Skills, action points. No leveling or EXP though. I haven't totally read the rules but I don't see and progression (yet) so long term campaigning is just survival with collecting tech. I'll have to compare it with 1st ed and see which one i'll use. Right now i'm leaning towards 1st ed.

I backed the kickstart so I should have gotten access to the rules but I haven't gotten a link yet. When I get one I'll try to post some comments.
A bummer if it really doesn't have much setting info. That was always a strength of MA.

The book is mostly rules. I didn't get much of a setting feel. This sounds really grim. I have lots of rulebooks. What I want is Metamorphosis Alpha setting material. The rules read like most RPG video games like fallout, skyrim, Red Dead etc.. Skills, action points. Zzzzzz. And this took four years to write? Sounds like I'll be buying the 1E rulebook PDF from WardCo and a bunch of Goodman support PDFs.

Agreed. I went in big-time for the Goodman kickstart and it's fantastic. I have this big box of stretch goal stuff that will allow me to play MA with all sorts of bells and whistles.
And Goodman is planning to launch Jim Ward's "Epsilon City" kickstart soon.
