From the Vampyre TSR mini game manual Very cool thread! I really want to grab a copy of this game. I always seem to forget about, then someone mentions it and a slap my forehead.

From the Vampyre TSR mini game manual Very cool thread! I really want to grab a copy of this game. I always seem to forget about, then someone mentions it and a slap my forehead. Its a fun little game. I am actually going to bring my copy to NTRPG Con and run side games in the bar area as a drinking game. My wife (not a gamer) enjoys it and requests me to break it out on occasion. It is quite luck based, but has some very cool elements. The 2 maps that come with the game are great, and the mechanics of the 1st portion of the game act as sort of a sandbox wilderness exploration with rolling for random encounters (werewolves, wild boars etc) that you fight with a basic 2d6 mechanic. What would be cool and somebody needs to do is to do a sandbox mini-setting D&Dish write up of it based on the game and the 1st map. This is a nice page/blog post that shows pics of the maps etc and explains some of the basic mechanics of the game the-haunted-closet.blogspot.com/2010/08/vampyre-game-of-hunt-for-dracula-tsr.html

Ok, I read that blog post and now I have to wonder not "if" but "how much" it influenced I6 Ravenloft. I'd put money down that Hickman was playing this game. The similarities are pretty obvious!

Dig that Bugbear Yeah... That's my favorite bugbear by far. He looks like what the name implies!

It's an awesome pic, but actually by Kenneth Rahman aka Elladan Elrohir rather than Erol Otus. The tag here is an overlapping "EE" rather than "EO". I wrote about this recently here. "Above is an advertisement for Gen Con XII from the Dragon #25, May 1979, with fantastic artwork by Kenneth Rahman aka Elladan Elrohir aka Eymoth. His tag is not to be mistaken for the EO used by Erol Otus, and can also be seen on the covers of other TSR games including Boot Hill and Divine Right (which Rahman co-designed with his brother Glenn)." If you take a look at the cover of the Boot Hill boxed set here (click on the image on that page for a larger view) you'll see it has the same overlapping "EE" logo along the bottom edge (partially obscured by text).

Whoops, yeah I might have been tricked by that signature and style. Ah well, good to know.
