Howdy All,
Does anyone recall a post about comparing D&D + Supplements, c. 1976 and what was added that was actually new to AD&D, c. 1979? I am curious to know what spells premier in AD&D Players Handbook?
Futures Bright,
Paul

I vaguely recall a thread or perhaps a blog post about the differences between the rules, but I don't think it covered details like spells or monsters. However, Delta's D&D Hot Spot blog has a series of posts on "Spells Through the Ages", including tables of which spells are in each edition and how they change (That link is just one example. The blog has a link in the sidebar to a Google search for other posts in the series. Unfortunately, Delta doesn't like to use tags, for some reason...)

Foster has a decent post on the first page.

Don't forget that some low level AD&D spells premiered in Holmes Basic in 1977, a year before the PHB.
MU Lvl 1 Dancing Lights, Enlargement, Tenser's Floating Disc
MU Lvl 2 Audible Glamer, Ray of Enfeeblement
Cl Lvl 1 Remove Fear, Resist Cold
Cl Lvl 2 Know alignment, Resist Fire
Holmes Basic also added other AD&D concepts not present in the earlier supplements inc Normal Men having worse to hit/saves, 5-point Alignment (found in SR, though), Treasure Types J-T
