Hi all -
Things are going great with issue #2, but it may be a few more weeks before it's ready. There are a couple things I'm still waiting/working on and I'm going on vacation, where I may be able to do some work, but I won't for example be able to scan in maps that show up in the mail.
Our contributor's list is amazing - our regular crew proved their worth in issue 1 and will do so again in issue 2, and we have some new members of the old-school community giving us some good stuff as well. In addition to them, though, we have 2 of the 6 living people with author credits on TSR editions of D&D, an award-winning designer from the indie community, a famous webcomic, the author of two renowned Judges' Guild products from back in the day, and many others.
The real reason for the delay though is just that this issue is going to be bumping up against lulu's 88 page limit for saddle-stitched books. We're overflowing with wonderful content.
If people still wanted to help out the main thing I need more of is art, particularly wilderness and tekumel-themed. I'll have more specific requests before I go on vacation and have time to review the items in question more fully.
So it's looking like mid-July may be the actual publication date - I've got about 30 of the 88 pages fully formatted so far, plus the front cover, and as I said I'm going to be hiking the Sierra Nevada week after next - but the wait should be worth it. Plus it's the summer issue and we just had the solstice anyway.
Thanks for all your help and support, and of course the great articels! I'm already starting to think about Issue #3, and of course the adventure contest (regular authors: you'd better submit! this is a way to get compensated for your work!). Also, after issue 2 is published I'm going to start a Fight On! website. I don't have any new ideas for broader print distribution yet, but once issue 2 is out on PDF (that will be between August and Novemeber it looks like) I'll probably try to get our PDFs at least on rpgnow or drivethru. (If anyone connected with those outfits has advice or would like to get started earlier with the issue 1 PDF, send me an email).
What a wonderful trip! Let's keep the energy going!
