Hi, I've gotten my self a little confused with movement. I understand the alternative movement Road/Plains/Clear for a man, who I assume is unencumbered, works out at 15 miles per 5 hours of walking a day? How long is a day of walking in the standard movement on page 34 of Characters and Combat? Is this table correct? Walking per day in the standard movement unencumbered is quite different; that's of course assuming the alternative movement is based on an unencumbered man. Encumbrance | Walking per ten minutes in feet | Walking per day in miles | Unencumbered | 260 | 22¾ | Light | 240 | 21 | Medium | 180 | 15¾ | Heavy | 120 | 10½ | Super Heavy | 60 | 5¼ |

Hello @portillo. Thanks for your interest.
Quickly, because I'm at work...
The section in Vol. 4 is labeled "Alternate Wilderness Movement", so it is an alternate system. The major change is that it doesn't consider encumbrance. However, the scales and results are roughly similar.
So, in Vol. 1 we have Overland or Rowing = 1/2 the base move in leagues (each league is 3 miles)per day. That works out to be 1/2 x 12 leagues, or 6 leagues, or 18 miles per day for an unencumbered man.
Vol. 4 has Man on foot = 1/2 of a hex per day. Since a hex is 10 leagues or 30 miles across, that's 15 miles per day (a bit slower than Vol. 1 if unencumbered, but a bit faster if encumbered.
So I think they roughly track each other. But I may have made a mistake or be missing something. I'm not sure where you get the 5 hour thing. Do I mention 5 hours somewhere?
I'm not sure I understand the right column in your table. I doesn't seem to match up with either the scheme in Vol. 1 or that of Vol. 4. But again I may be missing something.

There;s a great thread or two on this by Zenopus, in the Holmes forum. Sorry, too tricky to find on my mobile device right now!
