I have been wondering if people have been running any Carcosa games lately, or if folks have been working on the setting. I've read the blogs, but few have new entries lately.
The campaign I've been running has stalled for the near future. I have an adventure idea, but I haven't had time to work out the details.

I have something top-secret up my sleeve for 2015.

I'm basically finished typing my new Carcosa book. I will spend most of December proof-reading it before sending it to my publisher late in the month. We've had a lot of fun with it, exploring the lands south of the published Carcosa map. Lots of craziness. Lots of nasty monsters. Lots of weird things.

I am soooooo very much looking forward to that Geoffrey! tkdco2: I ceased work on my blog mainly due to the pain it was to get the page to cooperate, otherwise I would still post stuff. Though when I got free time I am usually writing up something for my Carcosa campaign.

Please let us know when your book comes out, geoffrey. I'm looking forward to it.

My carcosa is decidedly less horror and less gonzo. That's why I never shared but my campaign is still going quite well. Is there any more information about what's in the new book Geoffrey? Another class perhaps?

It's good to hear your game is going well, benno. I'm okay with downplaying the gonzo and horror aspects; my games haven't had a lot of those either. No Old Ones have appeared yet.

I wonder how many Carcosa DM's have went a similar way. What gonzo and horror elements have you used and why have you omitted some of these elements?

I wouldn't say I've omitted anything, except perhaps the details of the rituals. Nobody is playing a sorcerer anyway. The main antagonists that the characters have come up against are the Bone Men, although they've fought a few Spawns of Shub-Niggurath and have hunted a dinosaur or two. I've only run two games so far, so there are still a lot of things the characters haven't encountered yet.

I am also curious of the contents of the new Carcosa book. I did read (if I'm not mistaken) that it is a detailed hexcrawl of unknown regions.

As of right now, my manuscript for the new Carcosa book has just over 57,000 words. Most of the document consists of descriptions of 214 hex encounters (one for each hex that is not 100% water) immediately south of the published Carcosa map. As you can see, these descriptions are much more fleshed-out than those in the first Carcosa book. Each hex encounter in the new book averages about 250 words, as opposed to a sentence or two. Off the top of my head, the text includes:
new monstrous races new deities new monsters many unique spawn of Shub-Niggurath new poisons new magical/sorcerous things new high-tech things new extra-terrestrial races hundreds of names for the 13 races of men name-roots to generate names for Cthulhoid things geographic descriptions (perhaps 50 words long, average) of about two dozen places lots of crazy human settlements ("What's wrong with these people?!") disturbing, horrific fates
Also, I put in ways for PCs to be clerics or magic-users, if the group so chooses. Only 8 hexes have anything whatsoever to do with clerics, and only 6 have anything whatsoever to do with magic-users. Most of these could be replaced in a moment with sorcerers if the group wants to keep clerics and magic-users out of Carcosa. I for one think they fit, given the way I've put them in, but it is inevitable that some will disagree. But, as I said, they are easy to ignore if you don't want them. Out of 214 hexes, 201 hexes are completely free of clerics or magic-users.
Another way to look at this book is as a conversation between D&D referees who conduct campaigns in Carcosa. This is how I do it, how I flesh-out the skeleton presented in the first Carcosa book. I think all Carcosa referees will find it of value, whether for giving them new, weird ideas, or whether for solidifying the practices of other Carcosa referees who do things differently. ("That Geoffrey doesn't get this one thing at all. I'm going to fix it for him.")
I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff, since this is all just off the top of my head.

I can't wait, although my group has barely scratched the surface of the setting.

Cool! looks impressive. Out of curiosity, will there be some tools to create one's own weirdness (I see mention of a Cthuloid name generator...)?

I already wanted the book Geoffrey. Now I am pondering how many sacrifices and of what type are needed in the ritual: "Raggi's Publication of Geoffrey's Most Holy Manuscript"?

I think the only random generator in the new book is the one for Cthulhoid names.
That should be "Raggi's Publication of Geoffrey's Most Unholy Manuscript".
An OD&D version in digest format? While never say never, I doubt it. I hasten to add that all of Raggi's publications are digest-sized, and the book can be used with OD&D on the fly.

Someone should run a G+ session of "Christmas in Carcosa" as a goofy one shot. We have been talking about the "Christmas in Carcosa" theme over in the "Lost Carcosa" group on Facebook as well.
(I want to play Kreskregal the Jolly)

(I want to play Kreskregal the Jolly) He's an ulfire sorcerer who delivers weapons to all men and space aliens during the winter solstice. He rides on his flying chariot, drawn by eight winged velociraptors.

I've started up a Carcosa campaign recently. I'll start posting more about it on my blog. (You can see the posts I have about Carcosa so far over here: #carcosa.) Right now there is probably more discussion about the game on G+, in this community I made to organize things. (I am playing virtually with people using Google Hangouts.)

As our previous PbP Carcosa game here has been dead in the water for some time now, and my home gaming group is wary of anything not generic fantasy, I have decided at trying my hand at DMing a Carcosa game on these boards. Presently with school I am a little pressed for time but I think I can cobble something together for a start a week after next. The basic premise is to turn the gonzo up to 11 by including a copious amount of elements from Adventure Time due to having the Adventure Time Encyclopedia and being a huge fan of the show itself. I'll likely start up a recruitment thread for the game within a couple days in order to gather players over the course of the next week. If interested send me a line.

Christmas in carcosa was indeed the theme for December. Next months theme is Wacky Racers. Not only are shocking vehicles to suggest but discussions of what sort of terrain which vehicles would excel in and what sorts of obstacles Carcosa would throw in the path. Its more gonzo and less sentimental than Christmas.

How about a Hobbit/LOTR theme to your Carcosa adventures?
A Space Alien is recruited by a sorcerer and his 13 henchmen to free their village from one of Cthugah's flame creatures.
or
The stars are right, and Cthulhu is about to rise from the depths of R'lyeh. The human races (at least the lawful tribes) must put aside their differences and send a group of warriors to destroy a powerful artifact to prevent Cthulhu's rising.
