How many copies of the EPT boxed set did TSR sell?

Does anyone know how many copies of the Empire of the Petal Throne boxed set were sold when TSR published it?

If I had to guess, I'd say either 500 or 1,000 in the first print run in 1975. EPT did at least one additional print run, as there was a 2nd edition at TSR

D&D had two previous printings prior to 1975, each had been a 1,000 run boxed set. In October of 1975 a third printing was commissioned with a new out-of-house printer and that was for 2,000 more boxed sets, which sold out by March of 1976. It was right around this time, or just before this 3rd D&D Printing that EPT was released.

There were at least 3 printings from TSR, per tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=533 and tomeoftreasures.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13078 and perhaps 4 printings.

I don't have any print run info, however.
