…because “Easter egg” just doesn’t seem appropriate. I was reading through the book the other day, and upon scanning hex description 2501 I was struck by a sense of “familiarity”… Then it dawned on me that this was a nod to the Erol Otus illo on the back of the original D&DG hard-cover! I can't believe I missed that the half-dozen other times I read that hex description. Aside from the previously mentioned Glyuathk’th reference here, are there any other eggs to be gleaned from the text, I wonder?

That made me think, Geoffrey, did you intend Hex 0715 to be a reference to the cover of King Crimson's "In the Court of the Crimson King"? (Red Man frozen in a scream)

I'm actually pretty ignorant of heavy metal music. My inspiration for hex 0715 was H. P. Lovecraft's "Out of the Aeons", which is his most Carcosan story.

I actually haven't read that story. I need to do that. King Crimson is actually Progressive Rock. (Not to be confused with King Diamond.) I would highly recommend the song, "In The Court of the Crimson King" to anyone who has never heard it. youtu.be/iGTy7eOmL7M

That's not a bad song. Thanks for the link. I hope you enjoy "Out of the Aeons". Here it is free: hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/fiction/oa.aspx

The lizard-rider in Hex 0616 must be a reference to the picture on pg.3 of the Holmes Bluebook.

The lizard-rider in Hex 0616 must be a reference to the picture on pg.3 of the Holmes Bluebook. Yes indeed. He is in fact a Saurian, a race that is described in my forthcoming Carcosa book.
