Gentlemen and ladies,
I am throwing you a chat game, in honor of Dave Arneson Day!
The Nightheart's Broken Splinter
It's 150 years since the adventures of the Company of the Maiden, and the Valley of the Ancients is no more.
Instead, the Valiant Legion watches over a new, artificial ocean, made to lock all the horrors out of space beneath its black waters.
For the last sixty years, the generals of the legion have been looking for Skelfer's ancient laboraty, and not found it.
...Until this day.

Game Location: Chat (in all likelyhood, hosted at http://www.dragonsfoot.org)
Game System: The Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG - www.goodman-games.com/dccrpg.html
Setting Time: Year 1195 of the Northern Calendar
Setting Location: The Watchwood, on the Southern Border of the Ancient Sea
THE ANCIENT SEA AND ADJACENT TERRITORIES
The Valley of the Ancients, heartland of the Northern Marches, is no more. King Sven Ithamis, mindful of the horrors found in there, flooded the valley with the aid of powerful magic, and Dwarven engineering artistry. Thus, he created the Ancient Sea, a body of water that extends from its old Blackmoorian confines way into the distant land of Valon, where the ice-wizards rule.
Fearing that all sorts of evil beings might still prey for the rests of the treasures once contained in the City of Gods, seafaring on the Ancient Sea has hence been forbidden. The Valiant Legion enforces this law, led by the descendants of the House Messina, and making its headquarters in the amazon city of New Sea Rune in the Watchwood.
More fearsome than the Valiant Legion are the other guardians of the Ancient Sea: The Elves – the Reunited Kingdom’s last pureborn Elves – that make their home in the plane-traveling city of Aroro’ Esti, winged and horned as they are, regard it as their duty to guard the secrets that lay below the water, but shun all contact to the outside world apart of that. It is known that Erdath Dragonslayer still rules over the Elves of the North; but the last living member of the Company of the Maiden has not been seen by any human eye in at least a hundred years.
Below the Ancient Sea lie the Plains of the Foresworn, old Hak, the area most affected by the destruction brought by the City of Gods. 350 years later, the Peshwah still remain nearly extinct, and those that still live in their old dominion do not follow the old ways any more. They have become a lost people, nomads and beggars, and the worship of Hadeen among the peoples of the North has all but stopped entirely.
West of the Plains of the Foresworn, and to the southeast of the Duchy of the Vales begins the Duchy of the Glittering Lake, otherwise simply known as “The Glaemere”. It’s the territory of the House of Naelax. The Naelax family ruled the Great Kingdom for 300 years, before Iyx II, known to the Company of the Maiden only as “Sumerset”, vacated the throne in favor of Sven Ithamis. The Naelax are well-liked dukes, protectors of the people, ruling their land from Glendon Castle. The armor of Lord Robilar, which Sumerset wore for much of the military campaign against the Egg, still rests with the family, and the newest offspring of the current lord still wears it as an homage to his ancestor.
