Hello everyone. As someone new to this board, I thought I would introduce myself. I go by the handle "Grymlorde" and first starting playing D&D with the Whitebox + Greyhawk in 1977 at a local University SF club. In early 1978 the DM left so I volunteered, thus Grymwurld was born.
I have played OD&D with all the supplements, AD&D, AD&D with UA, AD&D 2e, AD&D 2e PO, and D&D 3.0. I've DMed a few games with Holmes Basic but never a campaign. I have no interest whatsoever in 4th or 5th ed or Pathfinder. I've never played 1974 OD&D and probably won't because I like variable weapon damage too much. I never wargamed but almost all of my 1977-78 players were wargamers.
My love for D&D has led me to become an amateur historian, anthropologist, and medieval reenactor. I've been active in modding videogames since 1997 and continue to do so.
I should also mention that like most everyone else back in the '70s, I started off with a dungeon, then a megadungeon but right around the time of the Giant series, the party left the dungeon and never went back. But there are certain player skills that are developed and honed in a dungeon setting that I believe serve the player and the party in all other types of adventures.
Currently I am running my middle school aged son through a dungeon with the intent of teaching him such skills.

I've been active in modding videogames since 1997 and continue to do so. Which ones? I started with Hexen, then Quake, Hexen II, and settled on Neverwinter Nights. Quake in particular was fantastic for modding. I managed to recreate the T1 Moathouse as well as the Tomb of Horrors. In NWN, I've been working on a dungeon, trying to recreate my 1977-78 experience. It's been challenging because whereas Quake et al. requires you to custom build each level which grants a lot of freedom, NWN requires that you assemble a level from existing tiles (rooms & corridors). But where I'm limited in dungeon architecture, the game is still D&D unlike Quake et al. which wasn't. I also spend my time preparing for and running a single player game for my son. Thanks for asking!

I loved Hexen as a kid. Definitely used the item that turns others into pigs in a handful of my late nineties tabletop games. Kinda wish it would get a modern reboot like DOOM did.

Hello, My name is Justin, and I recently moved to Los Angeles from S.F., although I am originally from the Midwest. I play all kinds of games, although my first as a kid was the Mentzer Red Box. I have toyed around with various versions/clones of OD&D like Swords & Wizardry, White Box: FMAG, and others, but have really been itching to play more 3LBB OD&D. Nice to meet you all! I love your flumph image. Flumphs are my favorite good-aligned AD&D monster.

And we are all the rossik. Resistance is futile....Seriously, what was happening back then, in the 80s? Why so many Rafaels in Latin countries? ...I think I know. ...But I don't wanna.

Welcome (: I'm glad to see another brazilian interested in OD&D discussions. I forgot to introduce myself here. My name is Kaique. I'm a 25 years old mechanical engineer currently living in Rio. I started playing AD&D 2e when I was ten, and discovered OD&D a couple years ago. My interest in the original game has grown ever since.

Hi there, fellow gamers!
New/old member here. (Old/new?) I've been on DF and K&KA for years too, so if my name looks familiar - yes - that's me. I recognize a lot of names here, and thanks for having me here. (Again.) Joining the ODD74 facebook group compelled me to get a new account here (old one deleted) and start over. (Not like I had more than a handful of posts from 10+ years ago anyways.)
For anyone who hasn't met me on any board, I'll skip the explanation and go straight for the summary: 1980, Holmes, BX, AD&D, Gamma World, Traveller, Star Frontiers, Top Secret, OD&D Supplements, USN, Recon, WEG Star Wars, Paranoia, Twilight 2000, MegaTraveller, Traveller2300, 2e, Gamma World4e, Alternity Gamma World, Starfire III, SFB, Babylon5 Wars, V&V, Space Opera, OD&D, Chainmail, 4e, 5e, DCC.
I'm running B4 The Lost City with Original Edition by Il Male +Supplements & a bit of Holmes and my own heart-breaker house rules (housebroken? not sure yet), we play live & in person when we can get together, and over roll20 & Hangouts when we can't get together. Its not listed on roll20 publicly, although I might once I learn the system and get everything set up, for a simple game that is.

To clarify, Bob was never *not* in good graces with OD&D'74. His old account was just not accessible, for some reason, and we fixed that problem.

Hi there!
After reading this forum for years I finally signed up. I'm interested in the early history of D&D and there is much insight to be had here, without a doubt!

One account per person, or both accounts get banned. That you registered two accounts within two days, even after your first account got approved, not a sign that you were up to anything positive or productive.
In case this is a "raaah, raaah, all a big misunderstanding", feel free to reach out to the team. In case it's not, stay away.

Hello, everyone! My usual online handle for gaming stuff is The Ghoul Priest, though I show up in a few places as Vijnananath.
I got my gaming start with HeroQuest and fell in love with full-on RPGs from the moment I was introduced to Rifts by a friend in the early '90s. Fantasy, especially dungeon-delving, was my true love, though, so I quickly moved to Palladium Fantasy, Warhammer Fantasy Role-Play, Tunnels & Trolls, and eventually D&D, especially the Rules Cyclopedia iteration of the B/X rules (though Ravenloft is my favorite official campaign setting for ANY version of the game). Believe it or not, I hadn't heard of D&D prior to running into all of those other games first! The VERY few kids into RPGs in my school were all into sci-fi, so I had to explore fantasy, horror, and other genres without any guidance.
Though I still run other systems and genres, I'm fairly new to OD&D and have become quite excited by/devoted to it. Most of my current play group are people I introduced to RPGs within the past five years or so, so they've been happy to come along for the ride with me. I'm currently using the Delving Deeper retroclone as my foundation and have a pretty solid campaign going via Discord — the ever-growing megadungeon of my own ongoing design being the centerpiece, though there's wilderness around which the PCs have explored a little bit as well.
Though I'm newer to OD&D than most people here, I'm sure, it's been an immediate good fit for me and my style of refereeing. I enjoy some OSR and OSR-inspired stuff — like DCC, The Black Hack, and so on — OD&D, B/X, and retroclones of them suit me like tailor-made. I'm glad to be here, and I look forward to learning and joining in on the discussion. Thanks for letting me in!
