I've been lurkin' on these forums for a long time and occasionally posting and yet I never took the time to post in here. So hello, I'm Clownboss, although people in life usually call me Nik. I live in Belgrade, Serbia, and I'm a comic artist, illustrator, designer and video editor. My claim to fame in these forums was asking things about the way Chainmail and OD&D function, making an extensive, unmoderated(and as of yet unfinished) series of Chainmail troop tilesets, and annoying tons of people in the process. I was born in 1992 and my first exposure to D&D other than it being mentioned in media is a 3.5E basic set that my mother so dearly got me for my birthday. I was so excited and glad to have finally gotten the means to play this game, the cool funky dice, the cool miniatures, and for as long as I've known I've always prefered to DM rather than lead a player character. I enjoyed leading 3.5 and had many laughs and good times with my friends, and later I have become interested in the history of development of D&D so I wanted to go back and read the old rulebooks and study the roots. That's how I ended up here and finding a newly-affirmed fascination with the game and having a blast with 0E, though I still love 3.5E dearly. I want to try to read or play all of the D&D versions at some point. I want to try to finish the Chainmail tilesets someday, but I need to find time for it and I also need to be a bit more in line with historical facts after being scolded by Gronan. In this process I found a love for medieval history I never knew I had, and this in itself has become a passtime of mine, other than the D&D I originally wanted to learn about. My other hobbies include music, film and games. A number of people have asked me if I could provide services as illustrator and I can inform that I have a website: nikgothic.com/ It should demonstrate all of my drawing inclinations and has ways of contacting should you require my services at any point. You can also add me on Discord as Clownboss#2605 and we can chat about whatever. I'm nice and friendly!

Hi everybody,
lurked for many years and have always been impressed by the congenial atmosphere Fin's kept up here. I'm mainly an AD&D guy, but a tinkerer, which usually ports well back and forth.

EOTB -- glad to have you on board. I kind of like the "Hannibal Smith" image you use at K&KA. Makes me feel like I know you better.

EOTB does love it when a plan comes together... luckily in D&D those plans tend to be as chaotic as Lt. Colonel Smith's plans.

Hello again friends.
Although I have been away for two years I still think about and play d&d. I write occasionally on my blog TreasurehuntersHQ.blogspot.com and I comment more frequently on others.
I’m playing in a 1e campaign that has gone on a little more than two years and looks to wrap up in the next three sessions or so.
Subsequently I will be refereeing a d&d game with my new rule system (draws from 0E and it’s Arensonian descendants) and lots of neato setting and procedural elements from all our OSR-DIY friends.
No idea whether I will be around here again but I would love to have a letter from new friends and old now that G+ is well in the rear view.

Hello,
I started playing D&D around 5e's release and mainly due to Critical Roll's success getting my friends involved and watching. Since then I have been playing 5e exclusively with other system attempts here and there. About a month ago a friend invited me to play OD&D and I have been loving the pure knowledge-based gameplay with extreme consequences. I am a consistent player who enjoys simulationism and OD&D fulfills that.

Wow, cool story Stan. Welcome! Glad you enjoy OD&D and 5e. I generally play AD&D 1E with friends and my daughters, now that my daughters are older they've DMed some 5e that I've taken a part in. Fun stuff.
Again, welcome! --Ron--

Hello! I started playing in 1980 with Holmes Basic. Stayed loyal to B/X and BECMI all through the 1980s. Now coming back to the systems with Necrotic Gnome's Old School Essentials. So my interest in OD&D is more academic than practical, although I'll steal anything that works at the table.

(Above is *really* me.) That show has become the bane of every person unlucky enough to share a hotel room, or to otherwise co-habit with me. Hard to get there for me, mentally, but it does appear like none of my neighbors is really terribly interested in whether I think "I'm On A Hero's Journey" at 0530 in the morning.

I mean cmon, Rutger! Nuff said. Gareth reminded me of Ferguson from that other little known, but less musical TV series Roar. Good stuff.

Hello everyone, new user here. Started out in the late 80's playing what was available here in Sweden namely BRP-licensed fantasy and post-apocalyptics before I moved on to English-language games... sad to say I didn't discover D&D until 3.0, played some of that and Pathfinder before I found the retroclones and just fell head over heels.

Welcome, fourkindsofcheese! Nice to have Sweden represented here. Is there any old school D&D / OSR activity in your country?

Welcome, fourkindsofcheese ! Nice to have Sweden represented here. Is there any old school D&D / OSR activity in your country? There is a small community but probably no more active people than I could count on my fingers and toes. I think White Hack is written by a swede though so there's that.

I don't understand how any nordic country wouldn't have an OSR community. I've considered moving to the region several times simply because people are forced to stay inside and play games for chunks of the year. I mean I thought the swedes go bonkers for wargaming and RPGs in general.
Also, because I rarely get to speak on the topic, Sweden has amazing progressive rock that straight up time traveled from the 1970's to bring the world more Hobbits and Techno-wizards.
Old School Swedish:
Bo Hansson
Ragnarök (not the metal band)
Kebnekaise
Twenty-teens Swedish:
Hällas
Wobbler (Norwegian, but same deal)

Here's a like for Wobbler, but I suppose you should never tell a swede that being norwegian is the same deal....
I give you another great swedish band though

Hello everyone! Long time lurker. Have never played OD&D before, but have read the rules and about everything I can find on it. So I have now run my first OD&D session and everyone had a lot of fun!! Sticking to the first 3 books with some minor house rules. I have the PDF's, but printed the Greyharp/Il Male Single Volume Edition for play.

I feel like I learn something new every month from those three books; not always better, but definitely something new that I hadn't seen in it before. Just remember that the 3 LBBs also came with Reference Sheets in the whitebox. Those reference sheets were used for making dungeonmaster screens and offer some clarification and insights as well.

Hello,
My name is Justin, and I recently moved to Los Angeles from S.F., although I am originally from the Midwest. I play all kinds of games, although my first as a kid was the Mentzer Red Box. I have toyed around with various versions/clones of OD&D like Swords & Wizardry, White Box: FMAG, and others, but have really been itching to play more 3LBB OD&D.
Nice to meet you all!
