Dungeons and Dragons is featured in no fewer than 5 (maybe 6?) episodes of Futurama-- - A Clone of My Own (ssn 2, ep 10), young Farnsworth is wearing a Dungeon Master t-shirt.
- How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back (ssn 2, ep 11), features a Beholder.
- I Second that Emotion (ssn 2 ep 14), one of the animals in the vet's office is a rust monster.
- Anthology of Interest I (ssn 2, ep 16, 3rd story "The Un-Freeze of a Lifetime"), features Gary Gygax (voiced by himself), a D&D game, rolling d10s to decide fate.
- Teenage Mutant Leela's Hurdles (ssn 4, ep 63), Professor Farnsworth is chasing his escaped gargoyle, Pazuzu. (This is a borderline case.)
- Bender's Game (Nov 2008, third of the four direct-to-DVD Futurama films), the film spoofs Dungeons & Dragons and contains a post-credits tribute to Gygax.
--leading me to the conclusion that somebody (a writer, director, producer) on the show not only played D&D, but had a personal relationship with Gary Gygax. Does anyone know who (if anyone) in the Futurama cast/crew played D&D? Can anyone add any more Futurama D&D references??? In the DVD commentary for Bender's Game: John DiMaggio talks about playing as a kid... In a brief discussion of D&D in a feature on the DVD: David X. Cohen recounted how he and a friends didn't "get" the idea of dungeons at first and made one map and played it. He showed the map, if I remember right... Someone from the Animation Studio shows off his dice bag and wizard's get-up. (Haven't seen it in a while...)

On February 3, 2011, NBC aired an episode of Community entitled "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons." On Thursday, March 20, 2014, NBC will air a sequel to this show, "Advanced Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" ( Community, Season 5, Episode 10). Here's a promotional photo with actors Ken Jeong and David Cross. If you zoom-in you can see their character sheets. In the Vulture article, Dan Harmon Explains His Cultural Influences, Community creator Dan Harmon discusses D&D: Harmon does a podcast called Harmontown, with Jeff Davis and Erin McGathy. It's usually done in the back of a comic book store in L.A., with a live audience. In one podcast, Harmon was discussing D&D and asked if anyone in the audience was a DM. A guy named Spencer Crittenden spoke up. Since then, every episode of Harmontown has featured a game of D&D with Spencer as DM. Quoting Mister Tumbles: Spencer also appeared on last week's episode of Community, "VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing."

I saw an episode of The Soup (hosted by Community's Joel McHale) that had a Walking Dead-themed segment feature the actors who play Darryl and Glenn. At the end of the segment there was a kind of montage of shots featuring the two actors with a zombie Joel. In one of the shots they were reading the zombie Joel a bedtime story. The book... the original Monster Manual.

Recently, I watched a re-run of the The Goldgbergs entitled "Dungeons & Dragons Anyone?" (Season 3 Episode 20), originally broadcast April 6, 2016 on ABC. Synopsis: Sick of the humiliation of getting picked last in gym class, Adam Goldberg convinces coach Mellor to let the class play a game that he's good at, and so they play the tournament version of The Ghost Tower of Inverness.Transcript here.Screen grabs:

Just an FYI George RR Martin may have ended up a GURPS player, but the Wild Cards books were based off of a campaign he ran using SuperWorld. I believe Victor Milan and Roger Zelazny were players...
