To the green woman (including everyone else): **What were the rolls of the four with you in our basement? Where do they operate out of and how many more are involved?**"The four robed Deep Ones were priest caste; they never had much to say. The two warrior caste were intended to be our... betrothed. They told us to smash up the place good, make it look like a random act of vandalism. "Our meetings took place on an island in the Miskatonic, but I think their base is underwater. They were going to take us there after the ceremony. Please, they'll kill me if they find out what I've told you!! We thought the house was going to be empty!"

"I think we need to do two things, at least, before we check out the beaver dam or the island. One, we should consider moving that raft to a place the deep ones aren't expecting it to be. Second, we should secure Fated's new house."
Turning to the green woman again "is there a way to close off that tunnel? A door inside somewhere?"

"I think we need to do two things, at least, before we check out the beaver dam or the island. One, we should consider moving that raft to a place the deep ones aren't expecting it to be. Second, we should secure Fated's new house." Turning to the green woman again "is there a way to close off that tunnel? A door inside somewhere?" "I'd like my raft back, please," implores your captive bone mariner. "If you like I can skip town and lay low for a couple of days. Maybe get rid of this one for you, someplace her scaly buddies won't find her for a looong time..." Minion's expert searching of the tunnel reveals a large piece of sheet metal that can be pulled over the entrance and covered with branches and debris. The tunnel is not freshly-dug but may have been created by the previous inhabitants for some purpose.

Fated: "Wherefore comes your imposing moniker, boatman? What have you destroyed, Angel?"
[OOC: Does Arkham have slave markets?]

Fated: "Wherefore comes your imposing moniker, boatman? What have you destroyed, Angel?" [OOC: Does Arkham have slave markets?] "My axe has split a few skulls, but none that didn't have it coming--this lifetime or the next," quips the bone man. [OOC: Legally in Arkham, domestics are called "servants" and not "slaves;" although Fated noticed an S&M shop down in the Underground where one might discreetly inquire about such things...]

With the aid of any who offer assistance, Minion begins concealing the tunnel entrance with said sheetmetal, branches and debris.
"We may have need of a boat and its boatman. If the notion of earning some coin from us interests you, don't leave town."
Focusing on Shadow *I'm not sure he's trustworthy, but who is? At least this way we can decide later, if we need a boat.*
"I need a personal assistant, green woman. Preferably one with an axe to grind against deep ones, and a desire to earn coin. What's your name, sweetheart?"

The green woman introduces herself as "[green]Parsley Green[/green]," and then with a distant look in her eye, like she is quoting from a list she read somewhere, "NPC mercenaries of level 2-3 [not quite Hero] count as Captains, may command a squad, earn 10x the going rate (1,500/month for a polearm specialist), and count as 1/5 of a PC for splitting treasure and XP."
[In other words you probably shouldn't be calling her "sweetheart!"]
Chartering a boat is 100sp/day plus 14sp for the services of your Guide, and he would demand 1/10 share of loot and experience.

*cough* "1500 a month.. you don't say?" Hiring an NPC higher level than you are ain't cheap. (But you can afford it! )

Gunnery suspects that the green woman will seek revenge for her sister at some point in the relatively near future. He stays wary of her...

Fated: "It sounds like there has been a tremendous misunderstanding... we will release you both shortly."
[OOC: Okay, there's no way we let a woman run around who we killed her sister and she hangs out with Deep Ones and also she is tougher than us. So let's figure out a way to get rid of her permanently, I suggest the slave market. I'm really suspicious of a rowboat captain named 'Destroying Angel' - we should have the teamsters verify he is who he says he is, and if he checks out then we can release him and tell him he owes us a favor for sparing his life.]

Breath of New Moon has a second thought, and going back over to the raft again she pokes about among the reeds and mud (with her Glaive) in case anyone/anything is attempting to hide down there.

The air is oppressive down by the beaver pond, the waters dark and haunted by the dammed spring runoff from Hangman's Hill. As Breath pokes around down by the water, she is swarmed by hummingbird-moths, mosquitoes, and tiny jade flies that tickle the inside of her nostrils (visible for all to see). But the coast is clear--no lurking deep ones among the rushes. Gunnery scratches himself; the exposed skin where the botflies crawled on him has developed a rash. This is not a pleasant place to linger; all sorts of bugs, snakes, frogs, and creepy-crawlies down here.
Meanwhile the party debates the next move, using Shade's head as a psionic chat room. Has a consensus been reached?

Breath returns back to the main group, and (once she is filled in on the details, out of the NPCs hearing) she agrees with Fated's suggestions.
