[OOC] Nope, didn't get one. Poo. Ah, well. Something to add to the list of *wants*. You still have one that is at a distance and unengaged if you wish to change your action.

Ah, didn't know that! Sure, then, Liam will continue with the ranged attacks.

The gray day did nothing to light up the little knot of battle just outside the foothills, though now the snow was bloodied from the wolves blood, and the sounds of a wolf yelping in pain....
Liam pulled back his string again and got ready to shoot when just out of the corner of his eye he saw another flash of gray, this time from in front of them...a sneaky one this one had tried to attack from behind but now was running past the group...sighting in on the one injured from Laric's attack he let fly....striking both times, the second time in the last good eye of the wolf and it was pulled off it's paws by the mighty blow and yelped no more.
Nigel hearing Galax call for help from the bigger of the two wolves, struck again hitting this wolf also in the skull with a resounding thud, though the wolf continued to try and bite Kib and Galax.
Erimus seeing that he had help from Laric, positioned himself waiting for the right moment...and it came his blade taking the wolf's head clean off.
Galax did what he could do using his spear to try and maneuver the wolf into range of the angry dwarf and his axe, the wolf wouldn't do what he wanted and THEN it did and the axe bit into the side of the wolf breaking ribs and sending the dying breath out of the wolf.
Liam wasted no time, not knowing what the fleeing wolf was going to do, he aimed and let fly, the first arrow narrowly missing but the second found it's mark sending the wolf tumbling and when it stopped the wolf breathed no more.

*Pant, Pant, Pant*....
GALAX will retrieve his shield and inspect it to see if it's salvageable, if not, he'll bury it.
GALAX to all: "I suggest we take some time to skin the wolves. If we are to be out in this weather much, we will appreciate the fur."

If we are to be out in this weather much, we will appreciate the fur." The shield is intact though there is a nice bit mark on the outside rim, where the wolf yanked it out of your hands...((My feeling at this time was the wolf couldn't destroy it but a Worg could have...I will decide this based upon the attack though the "sacrifice" will still save the character damage that round.))

Extinguishing his brand, Fennick huffs, Many fell beasts of the underworld mark their scouts as property. We should check these wolves for such markings before skinning them brave Master Galax. Mayhaps the red caps or the men of Loviator sicced these beasts upon us.
Fennick withdraws a moment to give thanks to his Lady Liege before checking the wolves for markings.

"That's a very educated statement Mister Fennick, if they are not branded, we might be able to see if they are being fed, or eating on their own, once they skin them that is."
Nigel will gather some wood for a small fire.
Then once one of the wolves are skinned, Nigel will take it by the paws, bring it by the fire and open its abdomen and cut out the stomach to see what's inside.
"I did some of my anatomy training under the great Doctor Mennick, any of you hear of her?"

Nigel Looking at them with your well trained eye, you think they look hungry and gaunt...you do not find any traces of brands or marks or collars on the wolves. Examining the contents of the stomach you think there might be a rabbit, and some rocks but that is about it...

Liam lets out a deep sigh as the adrenaline from the battle slowly dissipates in the silence that follows. Then he begins searching for what arrows he can find.
After that, he helps drag the last wolf body towards the group to be skinned.
"That's some bad luck on your bow string, Laric... Hope that doesn't happen to us too many more times or we'll have to start using wolf gut to string our bows!"
[OOC] By my count, Liam expended 8 arrows, four of which missed. So he'll try to recover the four.

"Bah! That was no fair fight! Those puppy dogs never stood a chance," grunts Kib, "but perhaps the smell of blood and the sound of battle will attract more. Best stoke the fire."
He hoists his axe and searches the immediate area for firewood. If there are enough saplings or larger branches nearby, he will construct a wooden frame to stretch out the wolf hides by the fire. "Pity we've no proper workshop to make wolf boots and mittens, but at least their pelts will keep us warm if we're caught in a storm."

GALAX pats his trusty shield and goes to assist in the skinning/stretching.
"These will take days to dry, but in the meantime, they may be useful as is. Let's not raise a fire just yet until we're at the end of the day? Just a suggestion?"

Erimus first checks that Nemmit is not too shaken by the experience, "You did very well, my boy" he encourages, handing his shield back, and then checks that nobody else has suffered any hurt.
"The Lady favours us twice over," he announces, touching his Holy symbol again, then wipes the blood off his sword in the snow as the others go about skinning and gutting the slain wolves.
"Master Liam," he asks, "Will wolves make for fair eating?"

Laric snorts and spits as he laughs, "Aye, twas a wet and rotted string, should have put a dry one on before we started this march."He takes steps to string his bow with his last string and counts his remaining arrows (18).

Erimus appears oblivious to Galax's remark as he moves through the group congratulating each Man (and Dwarf) heartily in turn for their fine efforts.
"With hearts as stout as these," he smiles at Galax, gesturing expansively at the company in general, "and a bite of roast wolf to fill our bellies, we can hardly falter now, eh?"
He sheathes his sword with a dramatic shhhhnk! and then quenches his thirst with a swig from his water-skin (all this talking is thirsty work).

OOC: Erimus is happy to stow the fresh meat and move on. We can roast it tonight -- by which time everyone will be famished which should help it taste better

"We can cook later, yes, we should do it soonish so they don't freeze."
Nigel will help by cutting the hauch pieces off of carrying 2-3 of them as he can.

"I concur - let's put space between ourselves and this battle site, which is sure to draw more wild animals in the near future."
Liam assists Nigel and takes two haunches to carry as well.

Kib abandons his crude wolf-tanning operation and grabs as much meat as he can carry, ready to move out.
"I likes my wolf rare (and marinated with Dwarven wine and mushrooms, alas), but those with sensitive stomachs should cook it well-done to kill the parasites..."

GALAX to ERIMUS: "You're quite the speech maker as well as the eager beaver to accept a self-assigned mantle of command. Let's hope you're not the Angel of Death leading us to our doom."
GALAX retains the wolf pelts and puts them in his sack, which he will tie to his backpack.

As the group prepares to move on, Erimus laughs heartily at Galax's bleak jest. "I make no claim to lead, master Galax," he replies, "But I can hardly stop you from following, now can I?"
Then, as the others prepare to get underway, Erimus finds a moment to say to Galax "I'm not so foolishly unaware of our plight as you might think, master Galax." He claps the dour fellow on the shoulder, and with a friendly smile adds, "Before you next nay-say, take a moment to consider the manner in which hope gives Men strength, while despair withers even the hardiest. You might even help yourself by helping us all."
With that he shoulders his share of the load and prepares to march...

(Ways - I hope you don't mind editing your post because you wouldn't get that far...)
GALAX shakes his head at ERIMUS. "Don't play me for a fool. The fake bonhomie act and we're all-in-this-together crap won't help when death has you by the neck. You had the chance to lead and bring us to safety and instead you elected to bring us to danger to mollify your holy ego."
Before ERIMUS can touch GALAX, GALAX rears back and reaches for his spear.
"NEVER.SNEAK.UP.ON.ME.OR.TOUCH.ME!!!" he squeaks in a high pitched, loud and panicked/frightened voice, loud enough that all can hear.
(If ERIMUS continues with the touch, GALAX will thrust with his spear, blindly in more of an attempt to push Erimus away versus actually harming him.)

Erimus is still close and Galax in an attempt to push Erimus away actually accidentally smacks Nemmet upside the head with the spear shaft, knocking the young boy to the ground...Nemmet is knocked onto his backside and just looking up at both of you.
