Since I couldn't find an adequate place to talk about older school Role Playing games I thought I'd create one so I've created the IRC channel #oldschoolrpg on freenode. I think talking about OGL role playing games falls within the purview of freenode.

So, Troy, can you say a bit more about this? What is freenode? What sort of talk are you envisioning?

So, Troy, can you say a bit more about this? What is freenode? What sort of talk are you envisioning? Just general chat about old school Roleplaying Games, Classic D&D, retro-clones, modern play alikes and rules light systems, traveller, metamorphasis alpha and so on. Maybe weekly games and such. Freenode, its an IRC network, you can connect to it using an IRC client, either native to your computers Operating System, or one of the web based ones.

If you don't want to install an irc client, you can use java.freenode.net/. Just pick an nick and join oldschoolrpg.

For those unfamiliar with IRC, its a chat protocol, much like a Yahoo, AOL, or Jabber chatroom. So whereas a forum like this provides an excellent place for pushing out a large block of ideas for thought, questioning, etc., to be read, reviewed, and responded to, I was thinking this would give us OSR types somewhere to talk about our games in a more rapidly interactive conversational manner. Currently it has a staggering population of two, but after a few folks pop in and lurk for a bit we might just be able to manage some lively conversation.
