KARUNAZ: "Mi'kimu speaks truth...closing the tomb doors will shield us from the Ka'yi! I have not fought them, but Mr'ur I have faced before, and pay no heed to their speech...they mean to kill us."

Attempting to look both ways at once, Mi'kimu, Balesh, Karunaz and the porters withdraw defensively into the inner crypt-
Charbok the Priest is cut off by the emerging Ka'yi- he is near the entrance stair and leaps clear of a searching tentacle, landing on the lower steps.
As the Kayi float into the antechamber, you all hesitate desperately, not wishing to close the doors without your companion-
He shouts at you from across the chaotic scene--
"Close the doors! I will find another way! Go!"
You see him hurry up the stairs.
Karunaz and Balesh each grab a door and sweating and grunting like Chlen beasts manage to pull the doors to with a heavy echoing thud, just as a Kayi looms at the portal.
It stretches forth a tentacle as the doors are closing and when they slam shut the tentacle is severed and falls to the floor, writhing like a dying snake.
Closed in the tomb with the M'rur, all of you now form a fighting wall against the doors.
"By the Cold Blue Flame...." an undead warrior says in its horrid voice; "You shall all sleep forever in the icy lake watersssss..."
They move to attack you!
D6 Opposed rolls for Initiative: M'rur 3, Party 6.
Party has initiative, please state actions. I assume with 4 Priests/Warrior Types (Balesh, Mi'kimu, Mohammad and Karunaz) these will engage the M'rur directly.

N'Rasa was closest to the tomb guardians. She came up from her bow when she heard their voiced intentions. She drew her dagger from its sheath with a Peter Jackson-esque SCHINNGG! - but then stepped 5' back and prepared to defend herself, rather than press forward to attack.

Balesh says "Let us see if these things can die again." He engages with his sword Balesh's blade strikes with precision and great damage (With his +5 to hit adjusted score was 20, damage was d6 +4- the M'rur he struck is wounded but shows some fight- return swing for M'rur at Balesh was a 16, damage was d6, 2 Points against the warrior)

Mahammad whispers a prayer from his diety for safety and then moves to attack one of the undead guardians with his mace Mohammad moves to strike but however decrepit the M'rur's appearance, it retains the memory of combat and deftly sidesteps the Mace, then returns a strike which hits for 1 point damage to the Priest. (I rolled an 8 for your attack, the M'rur got a 15 and rolled 1 on d6 for damage).

Mi'kimu strikes at the undead with his axe, after cautioning Fi'ru against engaging them unless he must. Mi'kimu and Karunaz move to confront two opponents-- the Tribal warrior dodges a swing from a M'rur and then decapitates the monster! They do indeed die again! Karunaz also brings his blow home-- his man still fights however, despite a nasty gash that opens its mummified chest. Vortumoi is too weakened by his last spell to do much more than hover back, mace in hand, until he recovers. Fi'ru obeys Mi'kimu and stands defensively between the melee and the porters and N'rasa. Mi'kimu's roll was a natural twenty. I rolled again for a chance of an instant kill based on rolling a 19 or 20 but rolled a 14- however, the creatures are 1+3 HD and Mi'kimu's damage die was a 5, double damage for his 20, so an instant kill after all, plus after his bonuses a messy kill.
The M'rur's "dying blow" was only a 4 on the d20 and missed Mi'kimu
Karunaz rolled an 18, he did only 2 points on a d6, with his bonuses he got 5 points of damage, not enough to kill the M'rur.
The M'rur's attack was only a 12, he failed to hit Karunaz.
I rolled for 2nd round of Initiative (even though melee is simultaneous spellcasters and missile throwers benefit from initiative)...M'rur 2, Party 5, you are first up again.
Any spells, special actions or moves you want please declare.

I'm posting a more detailed Map to better illuminate your environment. Please note that although the lake caverns appear possibly connected this may not be the case as far as you know- I quit drawing there because you can't see beyond that point. Actually you can't really see where I drew out to but even where you couldn't you got a general sense from scale, depth, air, etc. I am now taking out characters and dice/books to resolve this little pandemonium in the crypt with the M'rur. Fun fact: I joined a Tsolyáni word of the day group and it is said that Professor Barker chose M'rur because that's the sound a zombie makes...😂

The skirmish in the crypt is brief but fierce, with two battles taking place-- one between the physical combatants engaged in a grim and deadly dance of blades and shields and in addition to this, the flurry of their shadows upon the painted walls, moving in the torch light like some shadow puppet show one might see behind a screen in one of the Imperial cities...
The M'rur seem to have the upper hand for a moment-- they close upon your warriors and priest and knock aside or dodge every blow and bring ancient steel home to bite - Balesh, Mi'kimu and Karunaz are wounded during this exchange.
But the drawing of blood seems to unleash the fury of the tribesmen and the Livyani- with eyes full of savage determination they beat back the assault and with repeated blows bring down the undead enemies one by one- by the time the last one is left he is facing all four tomb raiders and his end is a spectacle of thrusting spear, axe and sword.
The last echoes of steel against steel drift away across the lake and the pale blue light fades from the eyes of the crumpled M'rur.
You all stand alone again beside the great black wooden sarcophagus. It's sheen is undimmed by time's rot or any sign of dust--the black laquer gleams like obsidian in your lights.
GM Notes: The Battle lasted 5 rounds in total. In brief, these are the rolls.
I was keeping a neat little flow chart on graph paper but lost track of a couple details, damage rolls being one though I did mark H.P. down, just forgot to record actual damage rolls so you will get the skinny version!
From round 2-5, unadjusted rolls:
Balesh: 2,8,10,9 Mi'kimu 8,14,18,20 Mohammad: 5,9,14,14 Karunaz: 4,13,2,16
M'rur 1 (Iggy) 17,13 11, X M'rur 2 (Uggy) 17, 1, 14,X M'rur 3 (Eewy) 18,6,4, 3
Round 2 went great for the Crypt Guard and they unfortunately wounded Balesh, Karunaz and Mi'kimu. Balesh took a grievous 4 points, bringing him to 4, Karunaz took 3 points taking him to 20, and Mi'kimu took 2 points, bringing him to 5.
Now that the M'rur lie dead, what are the actions of the party in Be'jordi's resting place?

(nice picture) Mohammad relaxes and says, " wait we have our friend fighting those eyeball creatures alone we should see what has happened. " (OOC Mohammad has his cure spell so how often can he use this) VORTUMOI: "If I understand the nature of the Demon which guards the crypt, Mohammad, having closed the doors we will not easily pass that way again- you will find them fast shut from this side. It appeared your companion escaped up the stairs at least- if he made it out, there is a good chance they will not follow as they prefer darkness- perhaps they have been preying on apes for years. I have not used my most powerful spell-- I have a means of escape from this crypt for all of us through the power Hu'ru grants me, but it is a spell most dangerous to use, for should it fail, we will be as the dead to the world of Tekumel, being trapped in a forgotten oubliette of time and space with no chance of exit. I trust in my skills, but first I would like us to ascertain whether or not we can further by some other means. For now, we have found what we sought! Obviously some ancient magic preserves the wood beyond its natural span- it should have rotted to a dust pile by now. Shamaness, let's have a light and see if our efforts shall be rewarded!" GM Note: Mohammad can use his Cure Light Wounds spell once per day to heal a d6 worth of Hit Points.
