Stabilizing him for healing on the surface sounds like a good plan to Brother Ursus, whatever gives the greatest chance of survival for the wounded man. But I think Olaf is a henchman so the final decision should go to that player?
Original situation is that you offered to escort Zebulon Trasker (a Druid) into the Dearthwood. He needed to talk to an Ent who resided in some ruins. During his conversation with the Ent, the Ent revealed that goblins were making sorties out of one of the ruined basements. Thus the intent of entering the dungeon is to find and take care of the goblins, plus whatever else you decide to do. Zebulon has agreed to hang around for a few days to provide healing. There pretty much are no other local resources outside the dungeon:
The trail leads to a small cliff. Under an overhang, protected by a collapsing palisade is a small village of worm eaten cottages. A tall tree mostly hides the village.
After two hours of apparent conversation, Zebulon confers with you. Apparently, goblins have been emerging from the cellar of one of the ruined cottages at night and chopping down trees. The ent would be most appreciative if the attacks stopped, though he can not offer any recompense. If you do this, Zebulon would be happy to offer healing on your return to the surface. He says you are welcome to scavenge the village for any possible needs. Zebulon would also forage in the forest to provide rations. Of course he will still pay you 100 gp each upon return to the ferry landing.
You have yet to see any sign of goblins, orcs are the closest...
Olaf is charmed by Quasmus.
Lars and Erik joined as a result of successful negotiation by Ruby and Fitz, but are basically part of the party.
Zebulon casts Cure Serious Wounds on Olaf for 8 points, he survives (roll 14 vs Con 11 + 6). Zebulon casts Cure Light Wounds on Fitz healing him, and Cure Light Wounds on Cedric only restoring 2 hp.
You rest for the night and regain spells. Zebulon indicates he must return to civilization, he will hang around for one more foray into the dungeon and then will leave (escorted by those PCs who have become inactive) should you wish to continue exploring the dungeon.
OOC: Well... Brother Ursus has seen no clues or signs of goblins in his short time with the party, so he has no particular hints on how to accomplish the primary mission objective. Therefore my vote would be to finish systematically exploring the first level.
In terms of marching order, I agree with the plan to shift lantern-bearer responsibilities from Ursus to Gottfre. Rear guard is a sensible place for Ursus, not in a cowardly way, but because he has good defensive abilities but no missile attacks or spells. If he is needed on the front line, then he is glad to move up in the order.

BTW, did Cedric want to loot an orc shield? I'm guessing yes...
Did anyone else want to grab one as a spare (Fitz already has a spare).
Hmm, also do we want to continue with Fitz in the party (Makofan, you suggested he was dropping out, though since then, Brumbar has posted in your game). I'm happy either way, I know Brumbar is comfortable with you or me directing his character's actions.
