Leaving and looking for food and inns you head further into the city. The taverns are busy and the inns look crowded. You find a place to eat and drink called the flying hammock. The place is crowded but you manage to find 2 tables you can put together. The bar maid comes over and takes the drink and food order. The conversations are plentiful and the food and beer smells good
The bar maid comes back with the two orders and ask if anyone else needs something. Conversations around are about the festival and the economy. What you discover is that there are three noble families that rule Specularum. These are the Radu, Torenescu, and the Vorloi.
After a few minutes a scarred man comes over to your table and says "Hey you there want some work? I need strong bodies and you look like brave men. Do you want to earn some money?"
"What kind of work would that be?", Thoradin asks and takes a sip from his beer, looking for a sign on the man which might tell of his allegiance to one of the noble families or a guild. "Some coin is always welcome", he adds.
Airik sees damrod and Ameldor enter the tavern. Airik finds the others and can hear the scarred men conversation with the rest of the others. The bar maid brings the rest of the drink and food orders.
The scarred man says " name is Theosius master wood sculptor and craftsman. I am looking for honorable and trustworthy men to do some legal duties for me. I am willing to pay each person 3 gold coins each. What say ye?"
(Everyone is in the tavern) So Airik would have seen everyone head into the tavern. Nearby there is an armory, a couple of inns and a general store and some houses. Airik where would you like to go?
Inside the tavern: the old man says " the jobs are legal simply bodyguard duties, escorting me or one of my employees to see a customer and also guard duties. Plus it is possible to get a special assignment as well. What say of yee, do we have an accord?
If Airik overheard this about the Volori's mercenaries, he would grow more concerned about where they were taking the people who were spirited away. He was still looking ahead for buildings of interest they might be heading towards.
((So, wherever the Volori mercenaries were heading, that's where Airik was going -- unless they lost him somehow in the crowds?))
The volori bodyguards would have followed the parade for a couple of streets before turning and heading NW to a nicer part of town. They pass by the duke walled stronghold which is a small walled keep . They then head to a nicer guarded manor house. The guards easily let them in. Airik does notice that up head down the main street heading east looks to be a foreign marketplace and he can see the northwest gate that leads into the desert.
Meanwhile for everyone, but Airik, the old man smiles and says " thanks for the drink but I have other business to get too and my wife will be mad if I am late. I can find he hear when I have need of ya. Enjoy the festival and the man leaves."
The barmaid Clair brings over Howard the owner. He says " due to the festival most rooms at inns are scarce. I close this place around midnight and I have been renting the common room for 1 silver coin per person per night. I also have a private room that my former cook employee was using. I charge 2 gold pieces a night but it does have a bed."
The barmaid brings each of you more food and drink. Eventually a few minutes later Airik joins your table have witnessed no suspicious activity from the manor house.
