"Well... *ahem* we could always just hold hands. And if we are somehow separated, have a prearranged meeting place. If we get lost, we meet in our tower. I'll want to check on that for certain, to make sure our laboratory is untouched."
Professor Ganon likes derosh's plan and the arranged plan to go their laboratory if they seperated.
Invisible Derosh Mol held Professor Ganon's hand. "We don't ever tell anyone about this part," he said, feeling awkward. With that, they walked hand-in-hand towards the castle.
If the drawbridge was down, they strolled right in. If it was up, they waited until it was in use and crossed with other people.
They would look for the bailiff, the captain of the guard, the castellan, the steward, and the baron himself, if they could reach these people without being overheard (like walking through really crunchy straw in a quiet room), and avoided crowded rooms where they could bump into someone. They moved through open doorways only. They would spend up to an hour around each of them, observing what was discussed. They wanted: -Information on how much the baron knows about the PCs' whereabouts -Information on what the baron's plans are for the gem mines -Information on the baron's war plans
They also checked on their tower laboratory to see if they could still get in. If the door was still being guarded...then they might have to plan out a diversion to get the guard away.

I thought we had a key for the lab too.
The professor agrees to not share the hand holding. He also checks the entry to the gates and also the barons throne room to see if there are any wards or runes engraved to the entrance. Checking security in case we are magically dispelled.
You turn invisible, and make your way to the castle by mid-morning. Your first problem is the Hill Giant guards at the gates - there are four of them! You also notice increased amount of soldiery, as if the baron was gearing for war. You hold your breaths, and sneak across the drawbridge.
Eavesdropping and spying uncovers the following: - the baron assumes the PC's are dead, but is waiting a bit longer before reclaiming their stuff from the tower - the emissary from the Earl is a Frost Giant!! Teh hill giants outside are his bodyguards - the baron intends to hire more adventurers in a few weeks, if he can find some. He wants to see what lays under the upper mine levels and the gem level, if anything - the baron has allied with the Earl of Warrenberg. The Earl is going to break away from the kingdom of Verbosh and create his own kingdom of Warrenberg. This should happen in the next few weeks. The baron needs the money from the mines for his troops.
Their stuff is still in the tower, but it does have a guard nearby
This tower has three floors - your entrance chamber, and two upper floor that can be used to house beds, plus a top battlement. The second and third floor rooms have curtained exits that connect to walkways through the interior curtain walls. The top battlement houses two soldiers and a ballista. You see no evidence of a library ... there is also a stair down into a basement chamber which would work for your lab
He also checks the entry to the gates and also the barons throne room to see if there are any wards or runes engraved to the entrance. Checking security in case we are magically dispelled.
- these seem to be magic free
Currently running OD&D Verbosh Campaign (I can usually squeeze in an extra player)
