As you exit Harrigan's Jame stops you out front and says JB "listen, Tommy. I didn't survive the trenches to find myself taking orders form another officer of the regiment...I want to be my own man. In charge of my own destiny. I'll do what ever I have to do to make sure that happens..." (you are aware that your cousin lacks your personality, looks and communication skills, but he makes a good point) When you enter Velma's Restaurant you find it still in the dinner rush hour. All the tables are full with customers and the staff are moving from table to table. A strong smell of beer and tobacco smoke is in the air. The lighting is bright as opposed to Harrigan's which you found to be a little dim. 2 men are sitting at the far booth near the kitchen. The male facing the door is in the midst of conversation with the other male not yet visible. 2 thug looking men stand near the booth watching the front door. They straighten up and lock eyes upon your entry. Both men are the size of your cousin, James. They are wearing 3 piece suits with fedoras, a typical look. Subtle touches to their suit jackets tell you they are armed... As the cousins go through the restaurant, Tommy says softly to James, "if you don't like the terms to this, you can go your own way, but don't do anything that messes things up for me. Let's just hear what the man has to say and then make a decision." Tommy stands at a few paces from the booth and points at Mr. O'Banion to the thugs and awaits their move.

The male in the booth facing the door makes eye contact then waves you over. He says aloud, DOB: "let him through boys." The 2 thugs quickly pat you and James down as you approach and remove your 38 Revolvers. "You'll get them back on the way out." one of them says. You are then allowed to stand in front of the table. You can now see both males sitting in the booth. The second male is European, early 20's, dark hair and piercing brown eyes. He reeks of violence. DOB: "Hey, boys. I'm O'Banion. I hear you been looking for me. This (pointing to the other male) is my associate Mr. Weiss. What can I do for you guys?"

"We appreciate you talking with us Mr.O'Banion, I'm Thomas Brogan and this is James Brogan, we're cousins. We got turned away from our jobs this morning at the docks and were hoping to come to work for you sir. We served, we're loyal, hardworking, quick learners, honest and.....ambitious[looks at James], but not for our own good". Tommy allows others to speak as he gleans how his personal sales pitch was digested.

DOB"So Jonny over at Harrigan's says you guys are veterans? You seen some fighting overseas? I guess you guys can handle yourselves in a pinch.I'm looking for some private contractors to assist my organization with some problems were having with expansion. If you know what I mean. I can assume you boys know that we are in the supply and demand business. Ain't the right Hymie?" (looking towards his partner). Hymie Weiss just nods his head slightly. "If you boys are interested, i'll have one of my associates come by and give you the details. If you handle it well there will be more work to follow." At that point you cousin speaks up... JB: "we'd like to start our own gang and kick back to you." DOB: "Gang? Who said anything about gangs? (laughs out loud). Hey Hymie, get a load of this guy. He wants to pay tribute! You wanna form your own organization and do work for me? Fine. You gonna form your own gang in my territory?? Not without my permission you don't. You are now in the territory owned exclusively by the North Side Boys. There is no business that goes on in this territory without my say so! Understand?"

"Clearly James is his own man and prefers to do his own talking, but allow me to articulate the thought. His...our ambition would be to...eventually run our own crew here in your territory, with your permission of course. Learning first would be MY priority, paying my rent and NOT getting my meals at the Mission." Tommy concludes.

DOB: "A little ambition, eh Tommy? OK, Leave me your details and one of my associates will be in touch. I'll try you guys out and if you can deliver then i'll have more work for you." At that point O'Banion goes back to his conversation with Hymie Weiss. The 2 bodyguards walk you to the door then hand you the 38's back. One of the males with an irish accent states, "if you need to take your meals you can do so here at Velma's Restaurant. It's a strong hold of the North Side Boys. That and Harrigan's next door. You'll be safe from the Italians here."

After they retrieve their guns, they have a seat, look at a menu for a to go order, and while they wait, write down their address and call numbers. When their meal arrives, they tip the waitress, thank the fellas at the door and head back to their apartment. Tommy says to James, "well, what do you think? If I had a clue as to how to break-in to this business, I would have supported your statement more but I have to say cousin, with no start-up funds, we're looking at strong-arming some shipments. Who's shipments, where do we sell them, what wars would we be starting? Details we can learn better from within an organization rather than doing it the hard way. That's the way I see it. I'm open to your persuasion if you have a better plan...of course." The cousins continue their walk home.

You guys pick up your food, hand the info. to one of the bodyguards then exit the restaurant. You both have telephones in your rooms so it's just matter of sit and wait...either that, or one of you can wait at the apartments while the other continues to explore the area...

It's Friday, April 09, 1920. 10:00 PM. You are candlestick telephone rings. You pick it up. The bodyguard with the irish accent is heard to say. "Meet us at Harrington's at the booth farthest to your right when you enter. We got a job for you."

He grabs his jacket, straightens-up in the mirror, takes his .38 out of the hallway table drawer, checks the chamber and holsters it. He leaves, locks up, looks up and down his hall and knocks on Jimmy's door. "It's me, we gotta go"

Jimmy exits his apartment while putting on his shirt and jacket. He places his 38 in his shoulder holster then lights a smoke. He follows you quietly as you head to Harrington's. It's now 1030 PM as you enter the "cafe." Business is in full swing. There are about 50 customers inside drinking, smoking, talking and laughing aloud. You turn right after entering the front door. At the far booth from the door there is a the one bodyguard sitting there alone. You walk over and sit down across from him. He slides a folded piece of paper over to you. He then says, "Mr. O'Banion has a job for you. We received information that there is a shipment of high end whisky coming in from out of town. He'd like you to hijack that shipment and bring it to him. The job pays $100.00 each. You in?"

Tommy looks at the paper and hands it to James. He says to the goon, "let me ask you something fella, do you know where I can get a flask, you know, so I can take a quick drink when I need one?"

The goon reaches into his inner jacket pocket and produces a mickey sized flask then slides it over to you. He then states "you'r gonna need transport to get to the location. It's just outta town along a country road. Bring your heaters, you'll need them. Take the truck from Capone boys and bring it to Tiffin alley. We'll have it unloaded from there. Then someone will dispose of the truck. The map to the location is on the paper. The truck will be passing that location on Sunday morning around 2 am or so...make sure you are there." At that point he slides out of the booth and leaves Harrington's.

When they're both on the same page, they go to leave, "let's get ourselves a ride, shall we". The boys take to the streets, eyes out for a durable sedan in good shape. Something parked away from the flat-foots normal beat. OOC: Hardtop or soft, first available will do, nothing with markings on the vehicle that would distinguish it easily.

You and Jimmy leave Harrington's around 12 am. You head North on Broad then across Dutton Court towards your apartment. In the Court you see several cars parked unattended. One car, a 1918 Ford Sedan, seems to fit the bill. You look around and all appears to be quiet. No apparent witness... (1. Make an observation check, 2. Make an Auto theft check)

You pop the car door, enter the front cab and easily start the engine...Jimmy is standing outside of the car when you hear him say JB "there's a copper coming." Jimmy lights a smoke and acts casual. You go about your business like nothing is out of the ordinary. The copper walks by and nods as he passes. Once he's gone, Jimmy enters the passenger seat and says, JB: "That was close." He then takes out the map and shows you where you need to go. It's now Saturday April 10, 1920. The job is on Sunday at 2 am. Tommy suggests you head out and get a lay of the land...

Check the compartment, see what's in there, see who the vehicle is registered to." he says to Jimmy as Tommy checks the gas gauge.

After an 8 hour drive it's now around 8 AM. You arrive at a T section in the roadway. There is a roadside diner on one side and a small barn/garage on the other. The diner is open. Its appears to be doing a brisk Saturday morning business...

"What do think James? This has to be clean. We can't damage the supply, we won't have time to remove it from their truck and we really shouldn't leave any dead bodies in the street.....I gues my suggestion would be to have you roadside on foot near the stop sign, I'll come across their front cutting them off. If you can get your gun on them before they know whats what, we should take it clean. Maybe tell them to cooperate and they live would help." Tommy lights up a smoke and checks his watch.

Jimmy listens to your input while eating. It's now 10 AM. The restaurant is still busy. Jimmy asks the waitress as she passes by, JB: "What time does the diner close? W: "We close at 10 PM." The waitress then walks away. JB: "No one will be here at 2 AM. Maybe we should block the road North with the the car. When they stop we'll take the load. What do you think?"
(Once you decide on the plan, mark your positions on the map)

Its around 2 AM on Sunday, April 11,1920. The night is clear, star filled and a full moon. Even though there are no street lights you can see clearly enough. Jimmy stands near the road sign looking West. He suddenly runs to the East side of the diner and yells, JB: "headlights coming fast!Jimmy crouches down, against the wall, 38 in hand. The sound of a speeding engine can be heard then a Ford truck coming skidding around the corner...

You hit the gas, pull forward and stop blocking the roadway. The driver of the Ford truck is unprepared to stop quickly. The truck smashes into the drivers side of the sedan. At the last second you realize they won't stop so you throw yourself onto the front passenger seat to minimize injury. The truck impacts the sedan pushing it about 5 feet. Tommy runs towards the driver and points his 38 yelling, TB: "Don't move or your dead!" The passenger opens the door and falls out. He is no longer in view...

Because the truck passenger fell out of view, Tommy keeps partial coverage as he cautiously approaches.

You work your way carefully around the rear of your sedan until the passenger side of the Ford truck comes into view. The passenger of that vehicle is on the ground, on his back pointing a double barreled sawed off shotgun (with a sawed off grip) in your direction...

You see the flash of one of the barrels firing and feel the blast before you can hear the explosion... Shotgun, range 10 ft, using sedan for cover modifier -30, gangster agility 58, need to roll 28 or less, 1d100 = 40...miss... you're move...
