Rosebella looks at this and says, "yes this is some fine material. If you give me five minutes with this I will tell you its magical properties. " ( unless you stop her she takes the weapon into another room)
Airik rejoins the group and has some cake and wine. Rosalinda says, " I am not sure about the numbers of the hobgoblins. The dragon is a rumor though I doubt they have it under control. If you want to take out the ogres that is fine although I agree the monestary where the hobgoblins are at is the better choice. As I said if you need to make a hasty retreat you can stay here. If you like me and my sister can watch your children. "
Within five minutes Rosebella comes back she looks a little weaker and says, "this swords is magical and will make you better to swing with this and deal more damage (long sword +1). "
(OOC even though this is a AD&D spell I am going to introduce the "identify spell" any magicuser or elf can have this spell on their list)
Babbo loudly chomps a candy apple and drinks some tea while listening to the dialogue.
"Hobgoblins are smart, ogres are brute, a dragon is a bet. I'd say my first pick would be taking care of hobgoblins first, because they're the only ones who could 'hire' the other two forces. So, I agree with the ladies, guys".
Ameldor thanks Rosebella and puts the sword back into its scabbard.
"We thank you for the offer to recover here if it is needed", he then continues, "I agree that the hobgoblins are the most pressing threat and we should deal with them first. I also think we should leave the children here. We will probably be stirring up a hornets nest of hobgoblins in that monastary and I don't want to have to worry about their safety as well as our own".

Kynor raises an eyebrow when hearing Father Mayhem. "So it is of interest to no-one to learn what made the hobgoblins attack the monastery? Where I come from, we have a saying: 'Knowing is half the battle.' Looks like we will have to fight a full battle."
"You're right, Kynor. We should scout the area and gauge their numbers and defenses before attempting an assault. It may be the hobgoblins have already found their fallen comrades and are beefing up their defenses. And you can be sure they'll be looking for revenge."
I pray for exactly seven things: strength, intelligence, wisdom, constitution, dexterity, charisma, and more hit points.
The ladies listen to your plans. They both agree to watch the kids. They restock your provisions and water. You all sleep the night and everyone is at full hit points. Also you feel like you accomplished something.

(unless anyone else has anything left to add I will start a new thread called chapter two "the hobgoblin King base"
