((I guess Derosh actually has another audience with the baron himself?))
Derosh Mol thought carefully over his answer, more so than usual. "Magic-users, my liege, require much time to prepare and study. We are not able to just conjure miraculous spells out of thin air. However, if we had access to a magical laboratory and assistants, we could delegate much of our preparations and be ready to travel in two to three days."
Derosh recalled an earlier question from Willoughby and coughed. "There is another matter, my liege. Willoughby, our cleric, needs information about how far we will be traveling on this mission. I am sure you, in your wisdom, plan to share more details with us at the proper time, but perhaps we can have some early insight into this one issue...?"
((I started writing this post about 2 hours ago and, since then, everyone has posted that they're ready to go! If the baron wants to shut down my suggestion and say, "No, you're going now," that's fine.))
"Sadly, we are not magically inclined up here at all, and have no facilities to offer you. Perhaps you could find some in Warrenberg. Tomorrow is fine for setting out, you need to rest and provision of course. But I will be frank with you. An informant has told me that the secret gem mine is accessible from a ledge in that large mushroom cavern where you had your battle, and that there is a rope ladder that leads to the ledge. I would know more about this mine, and if the dwarves are still working it, or if it is abandoned, or overrun. I have lost many brave men, and knights cost money to replace"

"Understood, my liege. Byrne and I will manage as best we can with what resources we have left. However, should we survive this next mission, and our services still please your lordship, it might be useful to invest in attracting apprentice magic-users from Warrenberg to serve here."
With that, Derosh Mol returned to the others, including the newcomer, Coast, Derosh had not even introduced himself to yet. In secret, he conferred to them: "The baron says we leave tomorrow. We return to the mushroom cavern where the kobold king fell. There, apparently some knight spotted a rope ladder descending from a ledge that we missed. We are to investigate there and see if that is the entrance to the secret gem mine. Is everyone going to be ready? And who is this new recruit? What skills do you have, boy?"
((Tonight, Derosh will take Read Languages as his 2nd spell, and keep Charm Person as his 1st. Does Derosh have any investment potentials around here? Companies Derosh can buy shares in? If not, where can we secure our gold safely if we don't want to take it with?))
