Rob,
A friend and I are registered for your game at Gary Con and we are planning on 'leveling up' our characters from a current AD&D campaign. Do you have any guidelines we should follow? We are just interested in having a good time and want to play characters suitable for your adventure.
Thanks!
Chris

If you are multi-classing then the lower of the PC level range spread applies. I do not allow a ring of vampiric regeneration as a magic item choice, nor any artifacts, including the orb of annihilation. Otherwise I will be checking PC sheets prior to start and also assigning some potions and spell scrolls that the party can divide between its members. Put on your "Totally out of the box" thinking cap for this one for the maximum experience. See you there!

Quick question, Rob. The event description says "This is a high level adventure for characters 12-14th level." How much XP should we use for calculating PC level (or levels if multi- or dual-classing)?

How much XP should we use for calculating PC level (or levels if multi- or dual-classing)? I basically handle it like so (which is the reason for the spread): If you are dual-classing, then the primary will be 13 in this case and the secondary 12. If MC with three levels, then 13/12/11 I was going to describe this at the table, but should have probably noted it, instead, at the GC forums. So, just assign levels as you please, no calculating XP needed.

Hopefully it's okay to watch and take notes... ~Scott "-enkainen" Casper Depends if you are watching behind me or in front, Scott. And if you are scheduled for one of the three sessions, of course, in which case peeking is verbotten... Otherwise do stroll by and watch the weirdness prevail (No, not mine! The adventure's...!)

So, if I understand correctly, a single-classed character would be 14th level?

I allow 1 each magic armor, shield and weapon (non-intelligent for sword) of up to +2 each. These do not count as magic item picks. I was going to do this at the table, but each PC gets three (3) magic item picks (not including the armor/weapon picks as noted). You can design one item (1) in advance, as well, and I will approve it or not. We did this at an earlier Garycon where each player designed their own low level magic item (they were 3rd level playing in my Castle). They all came up with some interesting creations matching their characters!

Hey Rob, I'm backing out of your Saturday at noon game. Work screwed me, I'm not able to attend the convention anymore, sadly. Have fun!

Shucks. I was looking forward to meeting you, Chainsaw! There will be a next time.
If you haven't done so already, let the Garycon staffers know that there's a slot open.
Next time, amigo!
