I'm on a Bill Willingham kick at the moment, and I'm not having any luck finding a comprehensive collection of his early DnD images. At the moment, Reints has the most (bless his heart.) Anyone know of more?

Here's a thread with a few pieces (with one "interesting" piece...) I'm no prude, believe me, but help a fellow gamer out and just say flat out the link is NSFW or possibly NSFW. Please? I sometimes do a bit of quick surfing at work. ;D

Oh yeah! That's what I'm talking about! I'd forgotten that one, too! Exalt!
I'm pretty sure I made at least one character based on the guy in the middle. I loved that sword...

@scaly - that is a great piece - never seen it! I have to say Bill Willingham is my favorite old school artist. Prefer him to Erol Otus - sacrilege, I know... My personal fave is the interior cover piece from Moldvay Basic.

Another nice Willingham that is pretty obscure is the dragon/wizard battle from the "Your Personal Invitation to Adventure" flyer: YPITA

So, Kesher, have you ever met him? He was here, you know. Last spring, at Springcon.
I didn't get close to his table, but I didn't have anything for him to sign (and I can never think of questions to ask guys like that, anyway) so I didn't try real hard.

machfront. I have a copy of YPITA. I'll scan the cover when I have some time. Willingham's stuff is all over the place in TSR stuff from the time period, including some obscure spots (boardgames, Dragon magazine articles, etc). We should put together a bibliography of his work. Here's a start from what's in this thread so far. Post more and I'll update it. Bill Willingham TSR Art Bibliography1980C2 The Ghost Tower of Inverness - medusa (pg 13) S2 White Plume Mountain (orange cover) - back cover TS002 Operation: Rapidstrike! - various agents (pgs 9, 11, 19, 22, 23, 26, 28) Dungeon Geomorphs (compilation) - front cover Your Personal Invitation to Adventure promotional flier - front cover Dungeon! boardgame - hero, elf, superhero, wizard portraits on side of box Knights of Camelot boardgame (2nd edition) - rulebook title page, questing beast (pg 24) 1981D&D Basic Set - title page, killer bees (pg B37), pixie vs rust monster (pg B41), tarantella (pg B43), troglodyte (pg B44) D&D Expert Set - title page, pass-wall (pg X17), mermaid (pg X22), knight (pg X25), basilisk (pg X28), pegasus (pg X37), vampire (pg X41), horn of blasting (pg X50), castle (pg X52) Fiend Folio - dune stalker (pg 30), drow (pg 33), stunjelly (pg 84), valkyrie, lightning swordswoman (pg 101), dwarf spellcaster (pg 102), iron cobra (pg 103), undead group portrait (pg 115) Hexagonal Mapping Booklet - front cover B2 Keep on the Borderlands (revision) - minotaur (pg 20) B3 Palace of the Silver Princess (orange or green cover) - title page D1-2 Descent into the Depths of the Earth - back cover L1 Secret of Bone Hill - front cover GW1 Legion of Gold - front cover, duel (pg 22), katkin (pg 24) SAGA minigame - cover art Vampyre minigame - art on diecut counters Revolt on Antares minigame - battle (last page of rulebook)

I've never heard of that flyer - I'd love to see the whole thing if you get a chance to scan it all and share it someplace dark. How long is it?
Another neat piece, I agree.

[/IMG]
Did you notice Captain America's shield, Magneto's helmet, and Spider-Man's symbol on the chest to the viewer's lower left?

Added a few more to the list, including the B3 title page (one of my favorites) and the D1-2 back cover posted by scalyd.

Did you notice Captain America's shield, Magneto's helmet, and Spider-Man's symbol on the chest to the viewer's lower left? I don't know if you can make the case that the spiders are the same as the insignia on Spider-Man's chest, though the design between them is very reminiscent of his mask. Also, that is Iron-Man's (MK III) helmet in the chest under Cap's shield, not Magneto's.
