Generally first come first served. Post here to let people know what you're taking. Thanks for any help you can provide! A Scorpion Man
- A Balrog
- A Robo-Dwarf
[/s] [/li][li] A pit trap (with someone falling in?)
[/li][li]A soothsayer, crystal ball, etc. type pic [/li][li]Automata [/li][li]Mutant Future/Gamma World type Adventuring party, possibly getting their mission [/li][li]“a 4' high staff of ebony having atop it a skull of ivory. [/li][li]A Seaweed Colossus [/li][li]A magic wand (possibly, in use by a wizard?) [/li][li]A steamy jungle landscape (maybe one jungle and one savannah? Hippos, jungle elves, giant insects, lizard men, amazons, vegepygmies are all good inhabitants, but darkly beautiful country is just fine too).[/s] [/li][li]Jungle insect people in a village of termite mound-like mud towers (built by sentient/magical bug-men however) [/li][li] A grove of vampire trees
[/li][li]Giraffe Centaurs [/li][li]a crown of black iron, made in the style of the shaggy and brutal Druidic kings of ancient days. [/li][li]a page of paper minis in a suitably comic style (Hobbit yokels with peasant smocks, pitchforks and mugs of ale, long nosed snobby looking elves, pointy headed football hooligan goblins etc.) – if you want to do this one let me know and I will send you the MS[/s] [/li][li]a grand battle scene between an expeditionary force of hobbits and elves and the Goblin Tribe of the Black Eye [/li][li]a domed room with light streaming in from the ceiling, lush plants and flowers in copper bowls, a marble basin with goldfish, a large serpent, and a priest of the shadow god animating vines along the walls to attack [/li][li]Faeries robbing sleeping adventurers and a wealthy trader in an inn in the dead of night [/li][li] Faeries giving battle to a party of adventurers by a well in a twisted wood, using snares and other tricks to neutralize the size disparity
[/li][li]A regular Pug, a Ghost Pug, a Dire Pug, and a Giant Jade Pug side by side[/s] [/li][li]A Heavenly Jade Temple (or characters entering same from the prime material…) [/li][li]PCs battling monks in temple gardens [/li][li]A wide angle view of a teeming Fantasy-Eastern (e.g. Chinese) city [/li][li]Sir Robilar exploring the Tomb of Horrors [/li][li]a 1920s' era seance/wealthy dinner party (perhaps with things going horribly wrong) [/li][li]an abandoned mill by the river with some fleshless human lurking in the shadows ready to pounce [/li][/ul]

I'll take the robo-dwarf, to add to the Sneerglaw memorial illustration I'm already doing! ...though I'm not sure I can beat the illo Chris already used.

Yours! Sneerglaw Memorial and Robo-Dwarf. You think Lawrence would be up for anything this time? Also, two more late additions up for grabs: - a 1920s' era seance/wealthy dinner party (perhaps with things going horribly wrong)
- an abandoned mill by the river with some fleshless human lurking in the shadows ready to pounce

Clarification on the mill if someone takes this one: the building should be a hulking example of architecture from the late 1800s/early 1900s and not a medieval one. Think Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle."

Already sent him the link and talked to him about it last night--he's definitely in for something!

Whoa, there's a lot of juicy stuff in this batch - I'd like to call dibs on these (I may have to come back for seconds, or thirds, like a good little hobbit): - a page of paper minis in a suitably comic style (Hobbit yokels with peasant smocks, pitchforks and mugs of ale, long nosed snobby looking elves, pointy headed football hooligan goblins etc.)
- A grove of vampire trees
- Giraffe Centaurs
- A regular Pug, a Ghost Pug, a Dire Pug, and a Giant Jade Pug side by side
A few questions: Do the vampire trees have faces, or just mouths with long snaking tongues and fangs? Perhaps they suck their victims dry with barbed branch-like tendrils? Personally, I think the fanged mouths would look suitably menacing. Giraffe centaurs - does that mean they're giraffes from the waist down, with a humanoid head, arms and torso? What about tiny giraffe-horns in their foreheads, and maybe mottled giraffe fur on their human parts? Do they have extra long necks? The paper minis sound fun, but should they be an illustration of a bunch of miniatures on a gaming table, dice and snacks scattered about? Or do you want a page of actual paper minis, that people can photocopy and cut out, maybe glue them on cardboard, and then use in their own games? That would be kinda cool - if you put them on the back cover, you could even print them in color. As an added bonus, you could make paper minis of monsters that are featured in the magazine, so the readers can go: "Oh, I'd really like to play a robo-dwarf, but I don't have any minis that would fully do it justice - wait! I can just use the ones on the back. Thank you, Fight On! Magazine!" Let's face it, this would probably be the only way you could ever get your hands on a Balrog adventurer miniature with a chainmail bikini and a 10' pole... Hang on, "bikini & 10' pole" makes it sound like a Balrog erotic dancer. *Shudder*

Ooo! I would dearly love to see this! (I mean the color paper minis, not the Balrog pole dancer...)

Jensen!
Thanks - this is a great help. I will send you the files to help answer your questions about details.
The minis are for a particular scenario, but they are meant at least in theory to be ones you could copy, cut out, and use...

You can probably find the Balrog Pole Dancer at Dirty Dorg's...

I'd like to give the scorpion-man a whirl. Is this illo meant for a Monster Manual type entry, or a PC race or should it be the centre-piece of a scene?
I'll also take the crown of black iron too.
Kris

Crown is a go. Thanks Kris!
You are the third person to ask for the scorpion man, however! Will get back to you on that...might be too late. I think we need more scorpion man coverage given the enthusiasm over this!

Are the last three all from the same submission? I'll give the "PCs vs Monks" a go, or sketch something just as suitable. Just email me the article.

We're set on the scorps, but the crown and pit are yours. Thanks KK!
I think I will solicit another scorpion man article for #15 to satisfy those who missed this time around though!

A question, Calithena: to what address should I send the file? Also, do you have a preferred file format for art submissions? I'm done the iron crown and would like to send it along so that you may suggest any necessary changes.
Best,
Kris

Ooh! New requests! I'll take the 'soothsayer/crystal ball' and the 'ebony skull staff' subjects (if somebody else hasn't claimed them already).

I might take a go at that Automata. What kind though, is it gonna be a toy or a full-size person? Horse, dragon, human or something in between?

Hi, Sherrypie!
That illustration is for some cool tables to make unique/distinctive golems, robots, living statues, and the like. So with golems for example you could do say a six-armed clockwork iron golem, or a wheeled stone golem with a built-in cannon, etc. Or a robot with a reflective surface and a medusa-head revealed by opening a hatch in its chest. Basically you can get creative with it. If you drop Ignatius an email at iggyumlaut at google mail etc. he can send you the tables, if that helps. Thanks for your interest!

If it's not too late, I'd be happy to contribute a couple of illos this time around. How about:
The Seaweed Colossus A jungle scene with Jungle Elves and Lizardmen
What are your preferred dimensions for these or can it be wtvr I choose? Also, do we have a deadline for these? Is one week fine?
I'll send them to your email as tifs when they're finished.

Thanks scadgrad! They are yours, I'll mark them off. A week should be more than fine, I am grading tons of papers for my regular job and there is lots of layout left to do...

Layout is cruising along, but I'm wondering if there is any more volunteer help...I'll need to start the arm-twisting if not.

Alright then, I guess I might as well get my claws dirty with some blood so mark me the PC's dishing it away with some fairies. Also the monks, so we'll get on with this.

What's the deadline for this stuff aka when is the issue supposed to be out? I really must, to my great sorrow, acknowledge reality and give up on the monk-pic at least for a month because of entrance exams and give someone else a go at it unless there is more time remaining.

The issue will be out in the next couple of weeks. I am sorry you couldn't get to it, no prob though, thanks for what you have done! It is crunch time now so if anyone is still mulling over jumping in, please consider it...individual arm-twisting coming shortly....
You artists are wonderful!
