Some Fred T Jane (Armor class 1912) some Fletcher Pratt (1938 hit points, armor class) plus more than a few others. Far Seas was basically the work of the designer BTW.

I hope so. We are having another meeting (I hope!) Monday. Then we will see what we see. (sigh)

I am feeling better at present. Of course the doctors can't agree on anything. I will be at Historicon this weekend and just finished up the airline reservations for GENCON. My 'kids' will be travelinng with me so I needed a few more overpriced tickets. (Ugh)
Sadly it looks like Dragons in The Basement will not be available at the show due too unforseen editing problems

Magic users in the beginning were more of an effort to give the players more firepower. A month or so later the clerics were added to heal up players more quickly. The plague of undead, like sir Fang, gave clerics additional powers to help eliminate that threat,
That's the short answer.
I ran into Kurt Krey at D&D day and that reminded me that he was the first evil wizard. As a compliment to the Soukup brothers evil warriors. Six or eight other original players were there as well. Very neat.

The name was changed from Hobbit to Halfling due to a nasty note from the JRT estate.
Personally the only class skills should be gardening and cooking.
I can hear my partner at Zeitgeist games screaming now. (he he)

I think that Mike is a comodities futures guy.
Sadly that is all I know.
As far as I also know I am the world's only living Henriot (Belgians) ace. I also claim a kill where I made the enemy tear his wings off and crash. (He he). Like I said 'disputed'.

Mike does a Dawn Patrol at GENCON every year Usually early on Saturday (7 AM)
By Saturday I am too wasted to attend it.
No advancement as Role Playing that I am aware of.

DGUTS will be re-released by GHQ this summer. No, no RPG in it. There were actually three editions. Two by GUIDON games and one by TSR.

Well it was a weekend without any other gaming, not a whole week.
I used Conan was an example because they were so bad. I read about three books a week back then.
Did you mention the popcorn? ;-) it was a magic paintbrush I used on the Wizard's tower in Greyhawk. I thought that the barber pole effect was nice.
I have tried everything from GURPS to Traveller to EPT. I just like 'my' D&D best. Yes I like refering RPGs.

I would say Bob Kuntz next. He did most of the GMing in Greyhawk. Then Barker (his world preceded D&D by a couple decades). Then Lee Gold for the first fanzine.

Dave Arneson quote
"if you don't entertain your DM, your DM will be forced to entertain himself, and how will they do that?"
"If I change a rule that makes it official."
"Don't ask me what you need to hit. Just roll the die and I will let you know."
"What! You got a mule full of monster stats?)
(Several variants on that one.)

OK. The white paneling and shag carpeting are due to my folks. They refinished the basement with those items. You ever try to find a dice in long shag!

OK I tried to do the hit location again. Again it slowed things down too much. TSR added the under water parts.

------------------- FINARVYN EDIT: What I did was to add Dave's comments to my master list at the top of the thread. Then, I cleaned up Dave's post to get rid of the names for which he had no comment and were unchanged. All I left were his corrections and comments.

Yes Bob and that is why I had to do all those encounter charts.

Many of your questions could be answered but I am bound legally to not do so.
Wesely had individual players with their own goals. But no character classes or development. (I.e. levels..)
NO I was not really in favor of hit locations after the first few games. I felt that it slowed things up too much.
We used CHAINMAIL three times but the COMBAT MATRIX was too simple and could not be expanded. I recall our last matrix filled a big part of the basement wall. So I went back to using my old ACW naval rule combat system.

I own the rights to FFC. And the artwork is mine too.
WOTC has no rights except the word BLACKMOOR.
