I looked through the Kickstarter again, and wound up pledging for the adventure modules instead of the deluxe reprint. I'd recommend that others who are likewise interested but get sticker shock, take a look. It's $10 for Michael Curtis's module, $30 for a subscription for three additional modules, and when they hit a fifth module as a stretch goal, that should also be available. Unfortunately, there are two caveats. One is that these aren't cumulative with the hardcover; if you want the actual book, you need to fork over $80 for it, plus $40 for the four modules. And the other caveat is that shipping isn't included. I was seriously considering the $120 but at a minimum of $130 for the package I can't do it. The modules are much more reasonable.

It's worth noting that several stretch goals have already been reached. (GM screen, extra adventure, etc.) That makes the cost of the hardback a better deal, since you get the extras as well.
I think that the custom MA dice are next on the stretch goal list. I really hope we can get those!

The GM screen is a nice touch. Hopefully it won't be as large as the book itself.

More and more stretch goals keep getting reached. This kickstart should be pretty amazing when finished!

For those who have played both MA and Gamma World (1e) what are the differences/similarities?
I haven't played either but I'm considering supporting the Kickstarter for MA. I'm presuming it's a pretty fun/easy to run game?

Officially, GAMMA WORLD is nothing like METAMORPHOSIS ALPHA. I say this because Jim Ward owns rights to MA and not to GW. Unofficially, GW is a lot like MA with a very similar style and way of doing things. Both remind me a lot of OD&D.
MA is neat because of the setting and the simplicity. I think it's easy to run and a lot of fun to play. If you are familiar with OD&D/AD&D I think you're ready for MA and/or GW.
I prefer MA to GW mostly because I found it first. I bought a copy of MA in the 1970's when I went to Lake Geneva and got to visit the Dungeon Hobby shop, so I'm sure I have a hidden bias due to my experience of getting to visit where it all started. I played MA for years before GW came out. When GW hit the stores I was excited and bought a copy, but my group never got into it somehow we never really played it as much as MA.

Thanks Finarvyn. Sounds like some great memories with the game! If I can scrounge together $80 then I think I'll get in on the kickstarter, but at this stage that's unlikely as I've just bought the wizards reprint of the OD&D box

They just hit stretch goals #11 and 12 in the past day. I think that's a special pin and another MA adventure. Things are happening really fast and time is running really short.

After much dithering, I jumped in as #621 of 624...
I've had the .pdf for several years; now to find some players again.

Wish I had known about this, would have been my first kick starter that I contributed to.

Wish I had known about this, would have been my first kick starter that I contributed to. Don't feel bad, I missed it too. And the Arcanum kickstarter as well :-(
