In recent times we've seen DD fans creating their own reference screens, boxed sets, house rules, and whathaveyous which is great!
But it has raised queries about re-use of the DD art.
So for the benefit of all contributors to the DD/OD&D/OSR community Mark, John, and I have decided to eliminate any further uncertainty. For the record:
Mark retains the copyright to the artwork. John and I retain licenses to use the artwork. And Mark, John, and Simon agree that:
The Delving Deeper community is granted permission to reproduce all art (except for the Brave Halfling Publishing, Immersive Ink, and Wobbly Goblin Press logos) appearing in the Delving Deeper Reference Rules for the purpose of fan-made/personal-use Delving Deeper supplements, so long as these are: a) Free of charge, and b) Not distributed by a commercial vendor or print on demand service (such as Lulu, RPGNow, or similar).
Enjoy!
Of course if you do want to create a commercial product that would be fantastic too. If it contains art you would need to negotiate an explicit art license for your product.
edit: Amended permission to include only the DD Ref Rules art.

Presumably, folks would need to scan in the art they wanted to use themselves? There is no web presence where its all collected I'm guessing.

I guess it would be might convenient if the DD folks who agreed on this would also host the original high-resolution assets, that way they could make sure that the artwork will always be used in the best possible quality (unless the people using it are being silly of course).

I am the creator and owner of the art in discussion here and wish that I had been allowed to read this blurb before it was posted. In discussion with Simon, I was referring to the 3 cover images already in use in the free "non-art" PDFs that Immersive Ink already has out.... not the 80+ pieces of art that the Delving Deeper boxed set contains. I believe there may have been a misunderstanding about this. Simon, please contact me. Thanks.
