No need to apologize mate, and as Jeff said, it's rare for someone to eat their own words and admit to it, so I owe you a virtual beer (or brandy, scotch, or whatever else you prefer). Colin

Diet Dr. Pepper? I may be intermittently obnoxious , but if I'm wrong I'll say so.

OK I promised you a couple of stories. Most of the players were very amused by the more-or-less useless trinkets that had been added to their character inventories. There was a big discussion about Black Kor-Esh's "carefully wrapped skull of stillborn twin brother". Did his parents keep it for him, in the hope he would grow up to be a necromancer!? Or did he just dig up his brother's grave and take it? Connor o' the Empty Cup wasn't sure if the lock of his poor dead lassie's hair belonged to his lover or his dog.
Pythius of the Sable Woods was determined to find a use for his small bag of native soil. In the gatehouse of ASE, the party were exploring a room: the air was unusually dry, and they could feel the hairs on their arms and the backs of their necks rising. The atmosphere began to feel oppressive, like weather before a thunderstorm; the dust on the floor began to swirl, as if disturbed by an ethereal wind. The dust began to form into vaguely humanoid shapes, with an ominous bearing. Attempts to communicate with the creatures met with little success, and the ghostly dust-shapes began to advance in a threatening manner [they were the disembodied consciousnesses of long-decayed automatons, taking form by binding metallic dust with static electricity]. In a flash of inspiration, Pythias held out his bag of soil and Zanna of the Black Flute played a haunting melody, convincing the dust-creatures that the bag of soil was some kind of dust-deity. As the dust ghosts reverently carried the bag of soil away, the party made a rapid exit in the other direction...
(more to come later...)

Ha ha that's awesome. That's exactly why I prefer games that don't try to have rules for everything. The players attempt something insane and the referee just adjudicates it.
