Just thought I'd mention that Marc Miller is currently shipping Traveller 5 books, cd's and flash drives. This first group is to the Kickstarter contributors and the members of the beta test group. The book is supposed to be available in your FLGS later this year. It doesn't appear you can order it direct from www.farfuture.net/ yet, but I suspect that you'll eventually be able to do that, too. My first, very brief description of T5 would be, very detailed, very "crunchy", very long (650+ pages) and more acronyms than you can shake a stick at!

If I ever get around to playing it again, I'll be back to the 3lbb's of Traveller.

From what I've seen it looks to be playing more to the gearhead audience, allowing endless hours of making up stuff. I'm not knocking it, because I went through that stage myself (but I'm over it now).
If I had the time I think I might just take the MGT SRD and produce a 3LBB inspired "MGT Lite" instead. I prefer MGT to CT, rules-wise, because the latter is a bit inconsistent and overly complex in parts, but I think even the core book of MGT has too much information.

I've been crunching through my copy, slowly. There is a lot of there, there. I'm not liking a lot I'm seeing. Table after table, save this part of the roll for later, and combat looks to be a hot mess.
Saying that there is things I can snatch and fairly easily bolt to the LBB. Task resolution is one of them. Rereading the original task resolution, its bad and inconsistent. Although I do like a 68A mod to the task resolution.
I will say that Traveller is my first love and been playing it almost as long as AD&D. To say I am disappointed by T5 is a bit strong. What I do like is that I can borrow many things and add them to my LBB campaign that has been in perpetual development Hell for years. ;D
This might just kick me in the butt enough to get something off the ground.
