It took a week and a half to get from Lulu to my door, but I finally got my copies of Fight On! to distribute to my group. All I can say is that all of the praise to date has been highly deserved. All the people involved with this mag deserve to be proud of themselves.
My particular favorite parts included The Devil's in the Details with it's look at dwarves. I'd love to see more like this. Maybe even one on orcs. The Tomb-Complex of Ymmu M'Kursa; just wild underground tomb-robbing with a variety of very distinct mental images, challenges, and questions that leave you to draw your own conclusions. Kinda had an Arduin feel to it. Enchanted Holy Symbols (the Sacred Scripture of St. Woostarian: when you hit the books, the books hit back). Nature's Nasty Node, with it's wonderful random charts (any table with a double-barreled magic crossbow gets a thumb's up). And finally, the Creepies & Crawlies section with it's genuinely off-the-wall critters that seem like a cross between Encounter Critical, the original Gamma World, and a gaggle of 13 year old boys playing OD&D whilst high on caffiene and sugar. How can you not like invisible undead who sing show tunes?
This book is so old school it should come with a white crayon. Can't wait for the second issue.

Can't wait for mine!! I got the PDF but the print copy must look so much better. I also haven't read anything because reading long texts from a PDF is philologically harder.
I hope in travels all the way from USA to Argentina and arrives safely home!

Thanks Doc. You'll be glad to know that Kesher is going to be back for at least 2 or 3 more Devil in the Details - issue 2 will have elves.
What I love even more than the fact that everyone seems to like the book is that they all like different parts of it. That really tells me we've got a pretty good spectrum of different 'old school' tastes represented in the text, something for everyone in our big family - which is the way I want it to be. We'll try to keep that up in the future.

I got mine yesterday .
I read it on an extended walk through the woods, sitting on a tree stump, nonetheless! [take that, pdf!]
Awesome, just awesome. The Space Wizards and Melan´s terse, verse-like room descriptions totally blew my mind. I read all articles and every songle one of them was worthwhile.
Only quibble: The front cover. The "Fight On!" looks nutsty, it has artifacts that look like jpeg artifacts. Changing the filetype tp gif or png-8 would easily solve this problem, if it´s not a Lulu problem. Looks like it was jpg artifacts, though.
BTW, I was expecting a Little White Fanzine, but got a letter sized fanzine. Is this correct? Anyway, I like it the way it is.

Yeah, letter-size is correct. I goofed and sent the logo to cal as a jpeg. I did a new one (which I think looks a lot cooler, BTW) that I sent him as a png.

Now it adds to the charm, as I know the story behind it.

Definitely less old-westy looking. I'd consider capitalizing the O in On, it could sorta look like Fighton! which is just down the road from Norwich I think. =) Have you done the across the room test on it?

First, Jeff, the new logo is AWESOME! Great job!
Second,
doc, thanks for the kind words! Elves are in the typing stage, and will hopefully be on their way to Iggy today or tomorrow (depending on what my kids let me get away with...)
It hadn't occured to me to apply this to orcs; it might be interesting to devote one column to a non-pc race. I will admit, however, that my own bias leans towards goblins...

Print it out at size, put it amongst other magazines/titles, etc. does it stand out, is it recognizable, is it readable. I'll state again, I think the new logo is a great improvement.

Cal mentioned this in an earlier thread; I forget which one, exactly, and don't have time to search at the moment...

I love the new logo too, though the old one is going to see use at least one more time - though not on the cover of issue 2. I have mentioned this on several threads, but all contributors are welcome to a free PDF as soon as the print version is released, though we ask that you do not share it with others. Just email iggyumlaut@gmail.com and he'll set you up. It's better in print though.

Yeah, it was mentioned in (among others) the "PDF Policy" thread. I not only read that, I replied to it.
Er, um, ah ... how young is too young to have a senior moment?
