Large Latte Day

In this post (Feb 6, 2009), just one month before he passed, Dave Arneson wrote:

PDF away. But be warned you will ALL owe me a large lattes at GENCON.

Dave Arneson gave us so many firsts: the first rpg, the first campaign setting (blackmoor), and the first scenario (temple of the frog). Therefore, what about toasting Dave with large lattes on the first day of GENCON, no matter where we are?


This year (2013), the first day of GENCON is August 15th. That's 6 months off, but I'm proposing this idea now, hoping it will gain steam (pun intended) before GENCON.

There have already been other memorials such as the Dave Arneson memorial gamedays in Manhattan and Minneapolis. This proposal is just another, simple way to memorialize Dave that anyone could do without having to attend a gameday or convention.


We ALL owe Dave large lattes!

A capital idea! I'm raising my "latte" now! (although it's just sumatra mandahling with skim milk) To Dave! (not.."to blave!)

I bought Dave a latte at GenCon in 2008. I was hoping I had a good picture of it, but the cup is trying to hide behind his baseball cap here. You can however make out the lid if you squint:

+1 Exalt! for buying Dave a latte at GenCon and for having the foresight to photograph it for us!!!
