Well, what the title says! Yesterday I finished translating and arranging the last pages of the WhiteBox rules. It's been though because this project took me almost two years.
It first started as an effort to translate the Core Rules, then the few helping hands a was able to muster online left me alone, then I quit the whole thing, then someone asked me to start again with his help, then he gave up, then a friend of mine offered to start all over again (at that time I was already playing WB, so I decided to switch the project focus too), then he had to travel and couldn't help me anymore, but this time around I finished alone anyway.
I'm actually pretty proud of the result, as this was my first "serious" translating project, and hands down the largest one to date (40,000 words).
I think this is a pretty important deal for the spanish speaking crowd of D&D players because except for 2e and 3e there were no other translations of D&D editions. 1e never got it, let alone OD&D (4e didn't either, amusingly). Worst yet, all the stuff that got here to Latin America had to be imported from Spain, which always made prices horribly prohibitive, and the availability was less than good, too.
And while many people speak english around here now, and the interwebs somewhat facilitate the understanding of foreign rule sets, most (95% of the gaming population) has never seen a OD&D or S&W copy in their lives.
I still haven't done any real formatting to the text (its not on pdf, it has no art, etc), so if anyone would like to offer his time and skills (which I lack) to the project, now's the time
I PM'd Marv and Matt about this yesterday, but I thought it would be nice to let you guys know too.
