Yesterday, my 11yo son and I were discussing what we should do on his last day of Summer before he returns to school tomorrow. His older 16yo brother returned to high-school on Monday, and I had the day off today, so since Momma also was working, he had some "Dad time." So I asked him last night what he imagined would be the "perfect day" and he responded, "a day playing role-play games with you, Dad." ...sniff, sniff... (insert big daddy man tears here) So this AM, we had a list of things to do first, but then I promised him a few hours together in a coffee-house or something playing a game together. Before we left I told him, "Pick whatever game you would like us to play this afternoon, your choice!" He went to one of our 3 large shelving units that store all of our games, mini's, and books... and said without hesitation, "GANGBUSTERS!" We satiated our hunger with cheap Chinese food (aka "candied meats") and commenced to settling up the laminated map and counters. We did a couple trial-car chases and such to remember the simple system and we were off! There was a courthouse escape, a car chase, a fiery crash, a shootout in the middle of a busy intersection, two police killed in the line of duty.... and the bad guys came to a nasty bloody 20's kind of end. Yep, I'd call that a perfect day. ...oh and during our time together we saw one of his former schoolmate's dad. It looks like we'll have another duo to join our "Dad & Son(s)" gaming group!

Agreed. What a wonderful story.
I'll tell you ... introducing my kids to RPGs is one of the best things ever. They're too busy to play much nowadays, but having an evening with the wife and kids all grouped around a table having "RPG family time" is the best!
