Another great list. I do think I prefer the sound of Moorcock's names over Lieber's. Some of those Melnibonean names sound like they could make excellent names for Hyperboreans in the AS&SH setting. One of the things that surprises me the most about these lists your are compiling, Jason, is the sheer number of names. I suppose one does not realize how many can crop in a novel. I wonder how many are in _David Copperfield_ . . . Some of Lieber's stories had a good list of names and some had none outside of the main characters. These first two Elric books only have a fair amount of names. I think I have seven of the Elric novels. I have the four books in the Runestaff series by Moorcock (unless he added others). I have lists of Celtic names from various sources like the Tain and Norse names from various Eddas and Sagas. I will be interested to compare them to Colin's list. I've been trying to make sure to note which names are female names, most are male, and some of the lists of names don't make it clear. It shouldn't be long before I get to a right and thorough perusal of Colin's manuscript. Presently I am still working on getting pre-orders out to waiting customers, so I have not had much free time, but I can't wait for you to see his work, as I feel you will appreciate it very much so.

I will be hunting down more names and ideas. At the moment I am going through the rulebooks and getting used to the differences in Astonishing Swordsmen. I am working on an introductory adventure, just a conversion of The Village of Hommlet to the Hyperborea setting. It will be a Keltic or Keltic mix settlement, but there is no Temple of Elemental Evil nearby.

I have the four books in the Runestaff series by Moorcock (unless he added others). There's a sequel trilogy, The Chronicles of Castle Brass. Count Brass, The Champion of Garathorm & The Quest for Tanelorn.

One thing I haven't done, which someone else might be tempted to do, is create lists for the innumerable isolated pockets of remnant cultures you might find such as Anglo-Saxons, Romans, Yakuts, etc.

I think I have a book called the Anglo-Saxon chronicle. Celtic Welsh is easy since there are lists of names in the Mabinogion. Yakuts could be more difficult, at least for me because I don't have anything about them among my own books, but possibly something online.

I've already done the Keltic names. Basically, these are the remnant pockets specifically mentioned (Hellenic Greeks are also mentioned, but don't need separate coverage as the Amazons, Atlanteans, and Kimmerians all use Hellenic names anyway): Romans Anglo-Saxons Yakuts Moors Lapps (look for Sami or Saami) I have three guides on Roman names (it's a fairly complex naming system when you factor in patronymics, etc.) and there's a lot of material around for Anglo-Saxon too (such as HERE), but these cultures are so small in number in Hyperborea they didn't really warrant the full name treatment in the document I compiled. Colin Great work Colin! I'll take what you've done on the major races as I have a campaign kicking off on the 28th!!! Thanks to Ghul for compiling everything. On the smaller cultures, I can do that myself or at the very least wait. This thread has been very helpful to me. My hat's off to all of you!! Morgan
