Strange type of living constructs or the basic framework of alien lifeforms: Regardless of which, they would be a strange and interesting feature indeed!

I think it would be interesting to have a Boot Hill campaign inspired by Jodorwsky's El Topo. Carcosa with guns and horses. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlcoPf9Xi9QNot safe for work/psychostability.

I actually put together some very preliminary notes for something like that called "Filth Dakota." Entering the Indian Territories means crossing a dimensional barrier, which basically means you enter Carcosa. General Custer is a Mummy who leads a mounted cohort of Diseased Guardians...

I just found something to supplement that whole La Planète Sauvage/ Fantastic Planet style. I was running a search for "Carcosa", and I stumbled on this post. This Codex Seraphinianus book is about a strange, and highly surreal world. It is lavishly illustrated, and full of an undefined writing that defies language experts to this day! If you can track down the art, it is worth the effort. Now that is weird, but awesomely so!

Oh yes, those would be by french artist Hervé Scott Flament. I have him on watch, at DeviantArt. His art does have that strange, otherworldly Lovecraftian vibe about them.

I was reading about how Guillermo del Toro (famed for Pan's Labyrinth and Hell Boy) was working on the movie for H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness before budget and the Prometheus movie terminated the project like an unwanted baby on prom night. Well, while reading more into it, I found del Toro's rather colorful sketches. They are really strange and macabre -- like the type of imagery you'll expect form the pages of the Necronomicon or some equally weird book of the occult. You can find more by running a Google image search for "Guillermo del Toro sketches". Here is a sample: _________________________________________ On a side note (not related to how I see Carcosa, but may interest someone), I found some Call of Cthulhu art by Michael Bukowski on his blog called Yog-Blogsoth that has a 2nd edition Monster Manual look about them (simple line work with bright ink coloring). Mind you, many of pics are not safe for work, as they depict casual nudity, gore and disturbing imagery (nothing wrong with that, I'm just giving you guys a heads up). Here is a sample of one of his works: Ahhh! How cute! Its a horrid abhorrent freak of nature that only a mother could love (and devourer).

When I think of Carcosa, I think of Peter Jackson's King Kong. A jungle filled with dinosaurs, bug pits and people driven to the brink of savagery, living in ruins built by their predecessors (or perhaps built by one of the other ancient, fallen races). Just add Cthulu, lasers and mad robots to King Kong, and you'd just about have Carcosa (or my vision of it, anyways).

Ruined structures belonging once to serpent men, now inhabited by mutants or insane bandits with power tools grafted to their limbs. "Say that to my belt sander arm, punk!" Endless wastes which might hold any number of astonishing treasures beneath the hot sea of fine sand. Making friends in neighbouring dimensions.

I think it's a shoggoth. That pyramid is beautiful. Egyptian themes would work well what with large stone structures in ancient desert ruins, weird statues to unknown gods...

I remember that house. LOL Back in school, the buses I took used to take me along Interstate 280, as Highway 101 tends to be congested. We used to debate what that giant pointing statue of Father Serra was pointing at (treasure or the like), or we joked about how he "want you to pull his giant finger" or "is about to blast you with his magic death bolt!" That takes me back! LOL WOW! They painted it orange! Back in the '80s and '90s, it was bleach white. I guess they got tired of the building looking like Flintstone's house form the cartoon. Orange of all things!? Here are some more organic architecture.

I never thought of making a "pull my finger" joke, but I'll mention it to my friends. But I didn't see the Flinstone House when it was still white, although I've seen photos. Here's more real-life weird architecture: Antoni Gaudi's buildings in Barcelona Pierre Cardin's Bubble House built by Annti Lovag. This along with the Flintstone will be part of my Green Man village. Why not let each village (or race) have its own style? That way, when the PCs go to a new village, they can remark on how strange it looks.

That organic architecture looks pretty interesting. Maybe I'll find a use for that in my game. Thanks! I always like find strange things like that. I don't know if you can't tell or not, but there are two links -- just letting you know. The Father Serra statue is still there. I never thought of making a "pull my finger" joke, but I'll mention it to my friends. But I didn't see the Flinstone House when it was still white, although I've seen photos. As a kid, I got board easily, so we made up all kinds of jokes. Even rumors about the "Long Lost Treasure of Serra" end up being about his hidden porn stach, with jokes about how crude they would look. And yes, before the 2000s, the house was white as chalk. Why not let each village (or race) have its own style? That way, when the PCs go to a new village, they can remark on how strange it looks. Seeing how strange and open-ended the setting is, there are a wide range of possibilities with this. As humans are not at the top of the food-chain, it is not like they would have great cities, or large settlements out in the open. Quite likely, they would have to make do with whats around them. The organic buildings could be the work of a strange, pliable material or some sort of dry coral or fungi. Bones and hide are another great building material. You could have something as simple as this: ...or a even a whole castle looking like this: The decor is way too cheery for my liking... All those faces got a big ol' grin, and big ol' puppy-dog eyes. I dont know about the rest of you, but big smiley-faces give me the creeps!

On some Sundays, fans would outfit him in 49ers bling, usually big medallions in red & gold and hats and stuff. Never saw him sport Giants gear. Good times, but now Candlestick is derelict
