Vociferous Bastard twists the cap of the small vial, revealing an applicator tip. It glitters with a single tiny drop of phosphorescent goo! The substance has a very faint chemical/solvent smell. The Vociferous Bastard tries to insert one of the leathery discs into the vial. He wants to see what type of reaction contact between the disc and goo make.

Breath passes responsibility for the chest to the other party members who mumble a noncommittal "yeah, yeah," their attention completely fixated on a pile of trash. She fetches one of the Teamsters (Malleable is the brother and Drosophila the sister; which one?) and goes in search of Gunnery.
Gunnery is crouched down at the northwest corner of the house, muttering something into his wrist about "intruders" and "perimeter." He makes the commando-style gesture to Breath to "keep down" and "over there" (gesturing in the direction of the orchard).
All Gunnery really knows is there was something moving around, smaller than a man but bigger than a rabbit, and it disappeared toward the brook moving at incredible speed before he could get a good look at it.

The Vociferous Bastard presses the two objects together and discovers the fluid from the vial creates a phosphorescent dot on the surface of the disc. By varying the pressure on the applicator tip, he can vary the amount of ink from a tiny pinpoint to a messy spot, creating a wide variety of artistic glow-in-the-dark effects.

Is the ink's glow strong enough to serve as a light source inside the pit? Not really, the ink is no brighter than an illuminated watch face or those little glow-in-the-dark star stickers. However there is a small psychological benefit of seeing something instead of pitch blackness...

Could the Bastard use to glow to make out if there is anything written in the pieces of paper he found? By its faint light he sees the papers are identical, each covered with the same abstract geometric pattern on one side.

All Gunnery really knows is there was something moving around, smaller than a man but bigger than a rabbit, and it disappeared toward the brook moving at incredible speed before he could get a good look at it. Once he is convinced that whatever it was poses no immediately threat, Gunnery returns to the house. It is his intent to get up to the roof-top cupola and from there to have a good look around... especially at any neighboring properties.

( Malleable is the brother and Drosophila the sister; which one?) and goes in search of Gunnery. ((Oops, sorry, I meant Drosophila; Minion is currently ordering Malleable around)) "Hmmm, maybe it was just a muskrat or something." Breath says to Gunnery. She accompanies him back to the house (with Drosophila) and resumes guarding the chest.

Gunnery and Breath rejoin the party in the south and central rooms of the house. He reports on the "lay of the land" including the cellar bulkhead, the kitchen door on the north end of the house, and the encounter with the "muskrat."
What is next for the party?
And a reminder that the Teamsters are going shopping before the day is through, so let me know any items to add to the shopping list.

Here is a map of your immediate neighborhood, your house indicated with the letter A (marking the driveway where the forklift is parked).

The Vociferous Bastard feels the man-hole sized trap door in the ceiling with his hand. He scans for some sort of locking mechanism he can try to pick with the diseased man's belt buckle! The Vociferous Bastard uses the tang of the belt buckle as an improvised lock pick. [Tinker skill 3-in-6: rolls 4] His attempt to jimmy the lock fails! Discouraged, he sits around for a while and gets hungry. So he tries a different tactic, wedging the flat part of the buckle around the rim of the trap door, no luck there. [6, even worse!] What seems like an eternity passes, and he's getting thirsty, so he keeps trying and trying. [4, 5, 1] On the 5th attempt, The Vociferous Bastard clips the belt to the thinnest cross-bar of the lock mechanism, braces himself, and jerks on it with his full body weight! [So that's how skills work, kids, you have a chance-in-6, rolling low is good, and if you have all the time in the world to keep trying, you will eventually succeed! Of course, life and death dungeoneering situations seldom give you the opportunity for a re-try.] The lock is bent and The Vociferous Bastard tentatively tests the trap-door. He meets some resistance, as though a light weight is on top. Will he push and risk disturbing or toppling whatever is on top? Or sit tight and wait for someone to rescue him?

The VociferousBastard From Innsmouth wrestles free from his oubliette and into... another darkened cellar!
The weight on the trap door was caused by a thick, heavy rug, from which VB must extricate himself before he can breathe the free air. The darkness up here is not so oppressive as below; a few photons dance through the chinks and cracks in the wooden floorboards above. Enough to realize he is in the cavernous, low-ceilinged cellar of a wooden house, in the day-time, and it's eerily quiet down here...
Yes... it's all coming back to him now... there's the chair where he was bound and beaten, and the metal table they strapped him to... thankfully there is no immediate sign of the hulking, multi-cylindered apparatus they used to make him talk...

The Vociferous Bastard From Innsmouth frees himself from the oppressive influence of the heavy rug by crawling away from underneath it. He pushes the horrific memories of physical harm to the back of his consciousness. He attempts to remember how he came to this present predicament. He scans his memories for clues as to the location of the metal table where his body and psyche where broken with the instruments of torture. He assumes his tormentors and their metal table are not very far.

Don't think Shade is in need of anything from the Teamsters at this time, though he can't speak for the others. So what IS the plan? Force one of the locked doors? If so, I say we do the western room first. But what does everyone else think?

As his eyes adjust to the dim light, Vociferous Bastard realizes he is in the very torture room itself! He uses the cold metal table for support as he stands fully upright and stretches for the first time in days. As he does so, something falls to the floor with a loud clatter. Why, it is his cookpots! His backpack has been dumped out and the contents spread out on the table-top. Whoever did so must have been looking for something specific, as they didn't take anything, not even his silver coins...
The empty cookpots remind VB of his hunger, and more pressingly, his extreme thirst.

Are the Vociferous Bastard's weapons and clothing in the room as well?
He puts all of his belongings in his backpack and looks for the door.

Searching the darkened cellar, he finds a wrought-iron spiral staircase (leading up) in the corner of the room. It is located inside a chain-link enclosure, behind a door that is padlocked. [1d6]

If so, I say we do the western room first. But what does everyone else think? OOC: I think five days is long enough to wait for a response from everyone...The Shade of the Evermore approaches the padlocked door on the western wall and examines it to see if it could be forced or if the padlock could be broken off. Then, in a sudden burst of inspiration, turns on a heel and goes out to the two workers waiting in the yard. He holds out a hand and communicates, **Crowbar**.

Drosophila is impressed by Shade's take-charge attitude and gladly lets him borrow her favorite crowbar.
The lock itself is no cheap padlock, oh no, but a proper high-quality lock built into the sturdy door. That being said, Shade is fairly confident he can force the whole thing by applying the proper leverage. (It will certainly make a lot of noise, and probably damage the lock.)
Does Shade do what I think he's going to do? Do any other party members have actions or precautions before he proceeds?

The Shade communicates **Thank you. It will be returned.** to Drosophila and heads back into the room.
He will use the crowbar to force the padlock on the door on the western wall. Before he opens the door, he will wait for the others to gather around him while he sets the crowbar aside and readies his bang stick (he still has that, right? If not, then he readies his flail).
Once everyone is ready, he will open the western door.

CRACK! [1d6] The wood around the deadbolt splinters, and the door stands slightly ajar (opening outward toward you).
I know that Shade is eager to see what's on the other side but I will leave this hanging overnight to see who's got his back and what actions they ready.
[ps Shade and Minion were each given neon arc welders by Supervisor Whitman. I seem to remember one or both of you drained the battery (by rolling a 1), but of course you would have remembered to charge it back up at the monorail station. Breath took an explosive demolitions charge and Fated chose a high-tech flashlight.]

Shade drained his fighting the frogs, I think, but he'd grabbed a new one. As an aside, I didn't know they could be recharged... thought they were just toast. I'll keep that in mind in case I drain mine again.

Yes, the arc welders can be recharged at certain green man facilities such as monorail yards or industrial complexes. Also they can be used as spears when switched off. (I thought about making them pikes, but pikes are unwieldy for dungeon use.) As an aside I don't like 100% predictable, reliable high-tech in my games; I prefer items with a chance of failure or misfire.

In any case... The Shade readies his arc welder and waits for the others to prepare themselves before entering the room.

Breath of New Moon stands in the doorway between the east room and the south room, where she can keep an eye on both the treasure, and the actions of Shade.
(She is still wearing her leather clothes, but unpacks her Glaive just in case...)

Shade activates his arc welder and the tip crackles with neon energy. He prepares to breach the west wing of the house.
Meanwhile, barely-five-foot-tall Breath, glaive in hand, guards the south door.
A formidable duo, the 7' giant, shrouded head to toe, and the bone woman, her leather clothing stretched to the limit by invisible muscles!
