So vaulting through, might just work? I'll throw the wretched slave through the mouth then. And jump through after.

At Zharkan's command the torchbearer jumped through the mouth. Zharkan followed behind with a leap of his own. Neither activated the trap. Not to be left behind, Sanjesh followed Zharkan's example after a last check for any danger from behind. With the teeth behind them, the party continued down the new tunnel. From the undisturbed dust on the floor it was clear this way was seldom used. As the oldest torch gave its last flicker another set of teeth in the floor was reached. These were identical to the previous. Beyond them was another sewer tunnel crossing. The tunnel they were in continued on but was no longer raised like the part they were in. = Map: home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/EPT06.JPG

'Which direction do we take now Imalcho?' asks Gereshma. 'Does the pillared hall to the north connect to the mushroom hall do you think?'

"I believe we need to continue straight. I remember that the tunnel we took had the Grey Gem's farms on the left."
"If we turn here they will be on both sides. Don't think we want to be surrounded by hostile Avanthe worshipers." "At least I don't."
"They may think we are trying to raid their farms." He looked askance at Kevuk as he spoke. =

Hrunal takes his earlier position in the middle of the group. " I wonder if these teeth work like the the last ones did. Maybe one of the warriors with spears can test them?"

'Watch the teeth ahead of us, and if you feel anyg give under your feet, stop and step back,' Gereshma instructs the front row warriors.
Passing along the passage he examines the walls for any secret doors.
'A passage that goes from nowhere to nowhere, but with a trap at each end? The Sarku lads have worm-eaten brians, but that seems a bit wasteful to me. There must be something important in here.'
OOC: Should we get to the junction without incident, I suggest we jump these teeth in the same way as worked for the last set, then go straight on - no more detours, not even for food.

The party was able to cross the new set of teeth with a simple hop to avoid stepping on both sides at the same time. Without accident, the party moved into the new intersection. To their left was more of the columned areas as seen before. This time they were on both sides of the sewer tunnel. In the other direction there could be heard the sounds of conflict. They were faint and far away. Ahead the tunnel continued much as normal. The sewage flow seemed a little more sluggish but nothing more than could be expected from a cross tunnel. Having decided to keep moving ahead, good progress was made and after another ten minutes of cautious movement the tunnel they were in ended. They had arrived at another intersection. This one only had a choice of left or right. To the right the tunnel continued unbroken as far as could be seen. To the left there were more columned areas. This time they were only on the left. 'So we go right then?' asks Gereshma. 'How far are we from this d**ned shrine anyway?'

Imalcho
Assuming that Gereshma comment was not just a rhetorical question, Imalcho responded.
"There is no telling how far we are from the shrine, since we need to meet with our Turning Wheel contact to learn its location."
"From what I remember, we are about a third of the way from the exit. If we don't take any more detours, it shouldn't take much longer." Pointing to the left tunnel he continued, "From here we go straight that way and turn right when we reach the end. Then again left and straight to the basement exit."
"We have plenty of time to get there since we started early. In fact, if we get there before them, I would like to get some food at the plaza market." =

As the party looked in the direction Imalcho pointed, they noticed an eldritch light slowly spill into the tunnel far ahead. It was if a door had opened on the right.
This was confirmed as the source entered the tunnel.
A priest in the robes of a Ksarul worshiper and two guards in full black plate armor stepped into the tunnel. The eldritch light was being produced by the priest and its pale blue tinge reflected eerily from the silver mask he wore.
They came towards the party at a brisk pace. They moved as if they traveled this way often. =

"One of you masters of the arcane arts want to handle this lot?" Kevuk whispers nervously, his hand tightening around his sword hilt, as he starts to inch away from the center of the group and the approaching Ksarulites...

Gereshma bows politely to the priest of Ksarul and his body guards, noting, if he can, any indications of clan, hustling the rest of the party to one side to make room for them.
'Kevuk, get your hand off that hilt, now! Don't look at them directly,' he hisses to his less educated brethren, 'Look down, do not speak unless spoken to and if you have to say something, call him 'jageltusmi' the 'you of divine reverence'.'
Gereshma waits in anxious silence as the Ksarul group approaches - if they take against the Silver Shells for any perceived disrespect then their lives and souls are likely to be taken in a highly gruesome and eldritch fashion.
OOC: Might be presuming too much knowledge of etiquette for a semi educated islander here, delete this if neccessary Greentongue.

They all have Crossed Quills, Pale Blue on a dark purple background, on their clan patch. The priest shows this pattern worked into the clothes he is wearing under his robes.
While the material the priest is wearing is of fine quality, it is not the finest available. You are unaware of the current style trends within the city, so your best guess is that the priest is from a middle ranked clan. If this clan is at the top or bottom of the middle you are unable to determine.
Maybe it was because they recognized the mark of Gruganu on Gereshma, or for some other reason, instead of barging through, they passed single file down the side cleared for them. =

Hrunal breathes a sigh of relief. He wants nothing to do with this priest and his guards, and very much hopes we can get out of the sewers and meet our contact with no further complications.

Gereshma watches the glimmer of the Ksarul priests light disappear donw the tunnel. So it was true, the priests in the surface temples do walk below at will. He wonders where the subterranean shrines of his own deity Gruganu might be, and when he might get an armed escrot of temple guardians to strike fear into the lower orders... Still no time to daydream, glory must be won with stern and direct action!
'Come on, lets find that contact - south isn't it Imalcho?'

"Then off we go!" Kevuk makes a respectful sign to Gereshma. "Good thinking with the priest," he says quietly.
(AFAIC we can keep following Imalcho's directions. Kevuk slips back to his rear-guard position.)

After the priest and is bodyguards passed, the party moved slowly in the direction that the priest had come from.
To their left they noticed furtive movement in the shadows at the edge of their torchlight. Small child sized shapes dodging behind columns and the mushroom tray stacks.
Continuing, they arrived at a drain hole on their right. This tunnel had a grating over its opening and was around five foot high. It was slightly raised from the main sewer passage and clearly served as a spill over for the main drain they were walking in. To the left was a raised passage between the columns. It was raised as much as the worm tunnel and slightly above the drain.
This side passage ran straight through the mushroom farm and disappeared into the darkness.
The main passage continued ahead as far as could be seen. The party had yet not reached the place that the priest and his companions had entered. =

March onwards to where Imalcho says the contact is meeting us, but keep an eye on those 'child-sized' shadows - has any of them got a) an exoskeleton and extra legs or b) a tail and a beak and a blowpipe?

Hrunal keeps his eyes and ears open. With no armor on, he may hear things the warriors miss. He also frequently checks on the slave and the torches. When the last one gets low, he'll hand a new one to the slave.

The movements in the shadows stay back but continue to monitor the party's progress. A little farther and another raised passage leads off to the left between the columns. One of the two remaining torches begins to sputter. Torch burn time: 5 & 6.= Map: home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/EPT10.JPG

Gereshma hands the slave another torch.
'Light this.' he says brusquely.
'North friend Imalscho?' he says, 'The little ones will do something to us if we steal any more of their muchrooms I think.'

With the addition of the new torch to brighten the way, the party continued to move cautiously forward. The burnt and discarded torch marking the distance they had traveled. Soon they reached a junction where the passage they were traveling ended in a 'T'. They began to notice an even fouler smell than usual as they turn the corner to the right. This was the correct direction, as indicated by Imalcho's nod of assent. Besides from the smell, this new passage was indistinguishable from the others. It continued behind them into the usual gloom and ahead past a door in the distance that opened to the left. = Map: home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/EPT12.JPG

Gereshma wrinkles his nose. 'What is that? The Ksarul priest came from this way - could be anything..'
He shudders. 'Best not to know, they have traffic with many demons, do they not Hrunal?'
OOC: What sort of a smell are we talking here - alchemical, decaying, strongly spicy (eek!), Jakallan cooking (gak), Ahoggya armpit?

Actually the Priest and his party entered the passage through a door. That door was somewhere back down the previous passageway that you turned out of.
The smell closely resembles what you would imagine from the armpit of a rotting Ahoggya.
