Are only D&D games ran here? Might an EPT game be allowed? =

I don't know if it's allowed, but I'd love to watch one. I have no experience with the game at all, and I've so far successfully resisted the urge to get either the reprint or the pdf (I spend enough on D&D already). But I am very interested in seeing it and would definitely support you running it here.

Greentongue, are you volunteering to run one? If so, under which rules system?
As my emphasis on these boards was supposed to be OD&D, I would obviously prefer something using the original EPT rules since they are so OD&D-like.
Just me thinking aloud....

IF I was to run one, I would of course only use the Original Rule system. Plus the Adventurer Variant - The Dragon Magazine #31 home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/DragonMagazine31.pdf . (My Savage Worlds conversion is based on the Original Rules but it would not be in the spirit of the site to use it.) =

Greentongue, are you volunteering to run one? I would rather play than run. (I usually get stuck running because nobody else wants to do it.) I have a web page that has most of what a player would need. home.earthlink.net/~djackson24/Delbert6c.htmFinding players interested in playing online is most likely just as hard as finding someone else to run it. I've found in the past that _starting_ a game is easy. Keeping it going, near impossible. =

greentongue, you have an amazing amount of material on your webpage. Thanks so much for sharing. I'd also like to watch, but I don't think I know enough yet to actually be a GM for EPT.

I think OEPT ought to be within the board's purview, along with original boot hill, warriors of mars, and anything else from the pre-AD&D days. Say if it was published by the end of 1977 we ought to at least consider it...

I agree in concept but think it's probably best on a case-by-case basis. For example, several folks have indicated that they would lurk to watch an OEPT game online, but no one has strongly said they would play or GM the session. I think I'd be looking for a bit more commitment before starting a game of OEPT, even though I think it would fall neatly into the "old school" philosophy.

I unfortunately do not have time to participate; however I have a suggestion. Why doesn\'t everyone who would like to play in an OEPT game, post that they want to. Second part of that is, if greentongue could be persuaded to ref it for, oh lets say two months, to show you all how greentongue does it is there someone else who would volunteer to take it over at that point and let greentongue play while you ref. Ideally it might work if there were greentongue plus at least two other people who would rotate in two month turns as ref. If greentongue would start it, surely a couple of you would give him a turn as player.

Second part of that is, if greentongue could be persuaded to ref it for, oh lets say two months I could be persuaded if there was serious interest. The reason I need persuading is that I'm trying to run a Metamorphosis Alpha based game currently and I'd rather not have time conflicts with it. (I do miss EPT though.) Two players would be acceptable to start. (Dangerous for them though, may need to add NPCs.) To get to actually play would be a pleasure. =

If there was enough interest, I posted how I would start in [EPT] Stone, Paper, Anchor. (A play on rock/paper/scissors.)
I figured that anyone sitting on the fence would like to put a toe in the water before jumping in. With that topic, the water is out where toes can be applied. =

I would like (with some time to prep) to ref EPT -- I'm guessing that Calithena might also like a chance to play -- if y'all promise to be patient with someone a bit rusty at that game.
Note: I would not be using the extensive old house rules mentioned elsewhere (except perhaps by popular demand).
In any case, I would also enjoy playing MA if it's 1st edition.

Part of me would like to play MA 1E and/or EPT, but part of me is afraid to commit because I'm not 100% certain I would stick with it. (With the holidays and with basketball season being a busy time for me.) I hate it when players agree to contribute and then bail, and I don't want to do that to someone else's game either.
On the other hand, I could be persuaded to open up a couple more sections for games if there is demand. (And I don't mind lurking some....)

Note: I would not be using the extensive old house rules mentioned elsewhere (except perhaps by popular demand). Rust is expected for these "well aged" games. The speed of PbP is such that "coming up to speed" is usually not an issue. With the rarity of finding people interested, I expect we all have a layer of rust. =

Grubman has a copy of MA 1st on sale on rpg.net for eighty bucks, if no-one's snagged it yet.
I should have read this thread before the other....I'm in on the EPT game but no more time for chargen now.

Greenie,
I can almost surely get one or two more players for the EPT game if you want...should I email them and have them show up here?

Greenie, I can almost surely get one or two more players for the EPT game if you want...should I email them and have them show up here? Well... You can have them look at the various game summaries I have posted at my site. If they think they would be happy with how I run my games, and are willing to give it a go, I guess I would be foolish to refuse. ( I tend to favor a "Pulp" style and am open to "tone" suggestions. ) I do miss EPT ... =

You would be welcome to play. Your character could be the one that demonstrates what effect the trap has. (if you have to bail.) If I get a couple more character sheets from possible players, would you agree to establish an EPT game thread? =

If I get a couple more character sheets from possible players, would you agree to establish an EPT game thread? Here's my thinking... 1. It's not OD&D. 2. But it is "old school". 3. And it was a mid-1970's TSR release. 4. But I don't want to get totally bogged down with online games since it's supposed to be a discussion emphasis. 5. However, we only have a couple games going at the moment and a third isn't out of the question. So ... my thought is that I would be willing to open up a spot for an EPT online game. I don't want to totally open up the floodgates for every game out there, but as I have a personal bias by being interested in EPT I would be interested in seeing this get off the ground. I would evaluate each request on a case-for-case basis to look for interest, and so on. Clearly, there is interest in EPT. If I get a couple more character sheets from possible players, would you agree to establish an EPT game thread? Bottom line = Yes.

Here is hoping that you get those additional sheets soon, perhaps a post in General letting everyone know that you are needing a couple of players or so more. I just don't have the time to do it right now, I am way behind a things that I need to post that I have committed to, but I really want to see this get going.

We now have three people that have submitted characters to play in an OEPT game. It is enough to start if a specific Topic for it is created and the OOC thread to it is moved there.
[OEPT] Stone, Paper, Anchor The competition between the Onyx Anchor clan (smoked seafood) and the White Stone clan (salted seafood) can be joined. The Imperial authorities will not allow direct conflict but the need to supply rations for the Imperial Army is a very lucrative honor. After all there is a war in the north and the soldiers must eat. =

Thanks!!
You may want to move this thread back to campfire so it can be used by others that are inspired to run a game.
... or not.
Anyway, thanks again. =
