I'm totally flexible on the alignment question. So far Bert has voted for Evil/Change, and that's ok with me. If the other three prefer Good/Stability, I'll go along with that. Please remember Evil(Change) is not the Disney version of Evil. Not graphic but not pleasent. For a GOOD party experience is shared, for an EVIL party experience is individually determined. While being from the same clan, Silver Shell, gives you a strong reason to work together. You will be expected to look out for your own interests second (if Evil). "Do no harm to the Clan" can be a very flexable motto. GOOD and EVIL can (and do) work together, "In the Clan's best interest." =

So far the Player roster is: Gereshma hiShiggoth ( bert ) as a Priest Kevuk hiKetalal ( calithena ) as a Warrior Hrunal hiVimkolel ( epengar ) as a Sorcerer
We now have identified three lineages from the Silver Shell clan, Shiggoth, Ketalal and Vimkolel.
Shiggoth is the lineage that harvests seaweed and weaves Ropes for the clan from them. Ketalal is the lineage that weaves some of the ropes into Nets and uses them for fishing. Vimkolel is the lineage that raises sea birds for their eggs and meat. Some of these birds are also used to send messages between fishing boats and shore.
We now have enough to start. =

Here's what I have so far:
Sanjesh hiKetalal, Warrior Strength 97 (superb) Intelligence 23 (dumb) Constitution 64 (healthy) Psychic Ability 25 (barely) Dexterity 42 (average) Guile 48 (average) Comeliness 76 (very good looking) +2 hit / +1 damage Hit Points 8 147 kaitars

For temple affiliation, I'll probably go with whatever my lineage-mate (Calithena) chooses.

Despite his name, Kevuk is a Stability type, I think. I'll get some equipment together.

More on Zharkan:
Religion/Temple: Chegarra Starting Kaitars: 159
Equipment: Plate Armor Shield Helmet Battle Axe Spear Dagger x2 Backpack Flint & steel 10 resin torches waterskin Tsural Buds Underworld Rations 1 week
36 Kaitars left
Zharkan has been surrounded by war and the trappings of war all of his life. He has followed in the footsteps of his god, as he expresses it. His face was badly burned from Serudla Acid during his time as a soldier. Though hideously deformed he bears his deformity with pride, as he feels any true follower of Chegarra should. He tries not to be sensitive about his appearance, but those who treat him rudely, or with disrespect will be challenged to test their mettle in the Hiralakte arena.

Good Warriors and Evil magic. -= For the Silver Shell! =- Looks like the secret meaning of "silver shell" is as a mask of Ksarul. The "bounty of the sea" is not just fish to eat, there are treachous reefs near the home island and items of value wash ashore.=

Looks like the Good Warriors are the "black sheep". Er, Zharkan's deity is Chegarra, the Cohort of Karakan, the Good God of War. Which gives give us three good warriors, an evil priest and an evil sorcerer. Are the rest of you ok with this? Just so. The goddess Auntie Jetsam lives on the beaches and among the reefs, and her whims decide if valuable goods wash ashore, or if your boat gets its guts torn out on a coral head. Sometimes her worshipers light fires at night. Foolish captains misread the signals and their ships run aground...

Obviously a little too quick with my "quick scan". That will teach me to "sneek on" and be in a hurry. Corrected. Thanks Looks like the main lineage for clan Warriors is Ketalal. Interesting how much we know about the Silver Shell clan from it's members and a smattering of back story. Very helpful to get everyone "grounded". =

I had initially thought of making Zharkan a Vimhula worshipper, bbut Chegarra seemed more heroic.

greentongue, how do you want to manage character sheets? I just paid for more possessions, and updated my character description post in this thread accordingly, but that doesn't seem like a practical way to do it in the long run.

I was kinda hoping that a OEPT Online Game topic would be created. In Empire of the Petal Throne (1975), [EPT] Characters I have initially formatted everyone's Character Sheets.
Each player can Cut & Paste a copy into the [OEPT] Character Roster thread and update it there.
You can use the 'pre' and '/pre' tags to maintain the format if you like.
If I move the character sheets, they will not be updateable by the player. =

Since most of us have purchased equipment, I'm assuming any shopping we need to do is for dungeoneering equipment?

It has been assumed that the Shrine is in the Underworld and that it would be wise to be equiped if travelling there.
I would agree. =

What access do we have to the city at large? I would like Gereshma to have a go at looking around the Gruganu (and Ksarul if he can get in) Temple libraries for any hints on what this Chiteng sect are like, and certainly sacrfice and pray for sucess to one or other of Gruganu's aspects before we get into the underworld.

Your friend Imalcho can find you an escort into the city, for a price. The going rate today is 1 gold per person, plus another gold to Imalcho for his "services" arranging the trip.
Going out of the Foreign Quarter without an escort has it's risks. =

Are there shrines to the gods within the Quarter?
Also, I'm not sure how my Illusion spell works. In particular this phrase "The illusion is limited to the user only". So I guess this means I can't for instance, create the illusion of a pit in the floor, and the illusion somehow has to center on me. I could make myself look like something else -- a similarly-sized monster perhaps, or a corpse, or a piece of furniture, or another guard in armor. Can I make myself invisible? or match the background without having to appear as a distinct object? Can I duplicate the particular appearance of another individual? The illusion can do damage if believed, but what happens if the illusion is of something recognizably lethal (a venomous creature perhaps)?
Of course the low likelihood of success is going to limit my use of this spell (22% chance that I will both get the spell off and that it will be believed by a semi (or more) intelligent target, 33% for non-intelligent), but one never knows. Thanks!

Sanjesh's equipment: sword, dagger, leather armor, shield, helmet, backpack, average clothes, warm cloak, heavy boots, waterskin. Leaving 13 kaitars.
Background: Not much to say. Fishing has been his whole life. He was pretty oblivious to a girl who had her eyes on him, but a fellow who wanted her convinced Sanjesh to go off and seek his fortune in the city.

Are there shrines to the gods within the Quarter? Small "house shrines" yes, suitable for prayer but no "support". You can make yourself look like someone or something else. Not invisible but, like you belonged there or matched the background. The target would need to save against poison. =

greentongue, can I hold a torch and cast a spell at the same time? The only thing I can find in the rules about this is in 725, and it's a little vague.

I believe that you can. Waving a torch will mean that it will take more room than without one. You will effectively take up the space wielding a sword would need.
Maybe a greater concern is how it looks. A respectable person doing a menial task usually assigned to a slave. =

That seems reasonable. As to respectability, I guess a hick from the sticks like Hrunal isn't (yet) a respectable person. Also, I think Bert started a notion that the warrior lineage (Ketalal) is a high lineage, so he'd probably be stuck with it anyway.

Am I correct in assuming that when everyone is ready to move out, the "leader" will state that "the party" is moving down the stairs?
It is a short flight down from this basement storeroom to the door in the sewer wall.
Will a "marching order" be determined first or once in the sewer itself? =

Salutations, noble ones. I'll be traveling from tomorrow evening until the afternoon of the 27th, and will have limited chances to post to the site. I don't mind if someone else runs Hrunal in my absence, should that be needed. I'm sorry for the short notice, I should have mentioned this sooner.
