October 4th, 1927; 6:50AM, Narrow Alley between 3rd and Anderson Avenue; Lakefront City, Wisconsin
The first glimpses of sunlight were on the horizon and it glinted off of the windshields of the 3 trucks rolling along Anderson Avenue. The 5 Prohibition Agents shivered in thier long coats and tried to ignore the cold from the wind and light snow falling as they gripped thier weapons tight.
In a quiet, serious voice, Carl Beck called out to his fellows; "Allright men; here come the trucks with the booz for the O'Connor speaks. When they come to a stop in the alley, we box them in and put them under arrest. I don't think they're gonna try anything stupid; but be ready just in case."
An anxious few minutes goes by as the trucks rumble thier way into the alley and then they all come to a stop. Several men open up the doors and move to get out as the canvas tarps on teh backs are opened up as well by men in the bed of the trucks; getting ready to move the barrels carried. Beck motions for Sal DeLucia to move his car into position blocking the trucks on one side; and at the other end of the alleyway; Orrie Cather hears the car engine of Beck and Sal's car and he moves his car into position to block the other end of the alleyway.
The O'Connor men are startled by the unexpected company and some explode into action, trying to get away or board the trucks while others throw thier arms up. Carl Beck, holding a brand-spanking new Thompson submachinegun has a grin on his face as he steps out of the car and is flanked by Sal DeLucia, holding a .45 revolver levelled at the gangsters in the alley. On the other end of the alley; Orrie Cather, flanked by Johnny Band and Andrew Neals; step out of thier car and level thier own weapons. Cather holds a Winchester, 1912 pump-action shotgun; Band a Winchester, Model 07 semi-auto, .351 rifle; and Neals a sawed-off, Double-barrelled 12-gauge shotgun.
Beck speaks up; "You all are suspected of being in violation of the Volstead Act. Your trucks will be searched and if illegal alcohol is found onboad; you will all be placed under arrest. Please step to the side of the alley and keep your hands visible at all times-"
Beck is suddenly interrupted by an Irish-accented yell of; "Anthony has said it's okay to bump these guys; let 'em have it!"; and moments later; from the middle truck, the short, barrel-chested figure of Michael "Mad Mikey" Damon leaps out with a Tommy gun spitting lead at Beck and DeLucia. A row of red dots suddenly appears across Beck's chest and middle and the Agent spins as the loud echo of gunfire deafens the area. Sal DeLucia drops behind the car as bullets spray across the winshield and ricochet off the hood and engine block.
At the rear of the column; several people are diving for the snow-covered road while others mill around, obviously in a panic. Three armed men; one carrying a .45 pistol; another carrying a pair of revolvers and the last carrying a big, Browning Automatic Rifle; burst out of the back of the rear most truck and level thier weapons as the three Prohibition Agents standing there...

As soon as he recovers from the shock of the easy assignment suddenly going bad, and realising his life is in jeopardy, Agent Neals lets loose both barrels at the Browning-toting bootlegger!

Johnny "Lucky" Band crouches and fires his rifle, also at the guy with the BAR.
If he goes down, Band will switch targets to the guy with two revolvers, saving the one with the single pistol for last. (Assuming he lives that long!)

Orrie curses, jumps behind the car and levels his shotgun at the group of armed men. Time permitting, he'll take a shot at the dual wielding rum runner.

October 4th, 1927; 6:55AM, Narrow Alley between 3rd and Anderson Avenue; Lakefront City, Wisconsin
As the sudden shootout in the street explodes in the cold morning air; various people dive for cover; bolt for safety; or point weapons and spit hot lead at each other...
At the front of the column; "Mad Mikey" Damon continues to turn Agents Beck and DeLucia's car into swiss-cheese with long bursts from his Thompson submachine gun. DeLucia cowers behind the wheel well of the car; flinching as bits of glass from the blown out windows rain down around him. He unsucessfully tries to keep his eyes from staring at the downed body of Special Agent Beck; lying unmoving on the ground with a line of bullet wounds acros his middle....
At the rear of the column; Johnny Band's Rifle-shot and Andrew Neals' double-barrelled shotgun blast turn the BAR wielding O'Connor member into a bloody pulp; the man collapsing into a pool of blood without firing so much a shot. His two fellow triggermen however cut loose with thier pistols at the three Prohibition Agents...
Johnny "Lucky" Band lives up to his nickname as a .45 slug tears a hole through the open lapel of his trenchcoat without so much as nicking his skin. Orrie Cather however manages to catch a slug from the twin revolver wielder in the back of his left shoulder as he gets down behind the car for cover; though he catches a break as the bullet seems to richoceht off of his hard shoulder bone and is therefore mostly a bad bruise*; though the wound does cause him to slip down behind the car and not get a shot off in return with his pump-action shotgun....
The other bullet from the two-gun-triggerman stars the windshield of the car the three Agents are clustered around; causing Agent Neals to jerk his head away from some flying glass fragments; but causing no lasting harm. The two O'Connor men spread apart from each other while continuing to take aim and fire thier pistols at the G-men....
*Cather is hit for a measly 4 points of damage; I rolled TERRIBLY poorly for the damage! Band was missed by 1 percentage point!

Neals drops his shotgun and draws his .45, letting a shot loose at the similarly-armed bootlegger.

October 4th, 1927; 6:56AM, Narrow Alley between 3rd and Anderson Avenue; Lakefront City, Wisconsin
As the furious shootout in the alley continued; most of the unarmed workers had fled the scene by this point; leaving only the armed combatants blazing away at each other in the snow...
Agent Sal DeLucia felt a moment's bit of hope fill him as he saw a bit of a breath cloud from the fallen Agent Carl Beck's mouth and suddenly he was filled with a resolution to enact revenge on 'Mad Mikey' Damon; who had paused from blasting the Prohibition Agent's car with his Tommy Gun to taunt him.
"If'n you're still alive back there boy-o; you might as well pop up and I'll do you real quick-like!" DeLucia thumbed back the hammer of his 1917 Smith and Wesson .45 revolver; took a deep breath and came over the top of the hood of the car; took aim and cut loose a shot while staring at the suddenly flaming muzzle of Damon's submachinegun....
In a strange moment that happened way too fast for any human to see; a pair of bullets passed each other to find a final resting place in the chests of two different men. A brief pause and then both men who had fired them fell to the street silently....
On the other end of the alley; the battle continued....
'Luky' Band took aim with his rifle and cut loose at the dual revolver wielding O'Connor member. He hit the man in the left hip; which caused the mobster to grimace and pain and collapse onto his knees; spoiling his shot with one of his revolvers. With the other however; he managed to put a round into Agent Neals' lower left ribs.*
Neals dropped his now-empty double-barrelled shotgun and yanked out his .45 automatic and clicked off the safety. As he took aim at the O'Connor member wielding the same kind of weapon he suddenly felt as if he had been punched in the lower left ribs and the sharp pain threw off his aim and made him fire his shot up into the air....
Orrie Cather, meanwhile; finally managed to get into the fight; taking aim with his Pump-action shotgun and cutting loose with a blast the smashed into the twin revolver triggerman like a freight train. The shotgun pellets tore into his upper right shoulder and arm; spun him around; and finally left him face-down in the street, twitiching with a pool of blood staining his shirt and the snow-slick concrete....
*Neals is hit for 8 points of damage

Johnny Lucky keeps firing on the two-gun kid; he's still the most dangerous one I see. And he clearly doesn't intend to surrender.

Neals grimaces as he collapses in pain to a seated position. With an effort of will, he takes aim again at the remaining gunman and fires.

October 4th, 1927; 6:56AM, Narrow Alley between 3rd and Anderson Avenue; Lakefront City, Wisconsin
The last remaining O'Connor mobster fired a hastily aimed shot with his .45 and turned to run back behind the truck he had jumped out of. His shot whizzed past Johnny "Lucky" Band's ear; doing no damage but causing the Prohibition Agent to flinch slightly and causing him to miss with his semi-automatic rifle shot in reply...
Orrie Cather racked another shell into his Shotgun's chamber and cuts loose a blast that hits the back left shoulder of the mobster; causing him to stumble into the back of the truck with blood darkening his coat from the wound....
Andrew Neals; grimacing in pain; takes careful aim with his .45 pistol and puts a round into the center of the O'Connor member's back as he turns to run and the mobster; now stiff from Neal's bullet as well as Cather's shotgun blast; falls flat on his face to the snowy road...
The alley way is suddenly, shockingly quiet as the last echoes of the gunfire fade away in the cold morning air....

Neals lets his pistol fall to his side, releasing his grip to clutch at his wounded side. Gritting his teeth at the sudden surge of pain, he does his best to staunch the wound. This is a lot more than he bargained for, some cushy job this turned out to be!
"Is that all of them?"

"I think so," Johnny Lucky says.
He looks around quickly, but doesn't see any more bad guys. Then he turns and helps his comrade, setting his rifle aside and getting out a clean handkerchief to help tend to the wound.

Orrie chambers another round and rushes over to his partners.
"You guys alright? It looks like we need some professional help for Beck and DeLucia. I'm going to drive them to the doc."
"Lucky, give me a hand getting these two in the car. "Neals, can you move? That wound looks a bit deeper than mine. "Can you guys wrap up here while I find some help?"
Orrie will try to move the two fallen agents, gathering the fallen weapons of all before he starts to drive off.

Neals, still gritting his teeth: "Yeah, I can move now. I think it looks worse than it is." He recovers his pistol, and stumbles back up to his feet.

October 4th, 1927; 7:00AM, Narrow Alley between 3rd and Anderson Avenue; Lakefront City, Wisconsin
As the three Prohibition Agents slowly gather themselves after the fierece early-morning gun-battle; they head over to where thier fellow agents Sal DeLucia and Carl Beck lie on the ground.
It's immediately obvious that DeLucia's done-for; Beck on the other hand is gasping out a few, pain-filled last breaths as his entire shirt-front is covered in blood from the half-dozen bullet holes.
Staring hard at the three men; Beck chokes out; "I've got a key in my pocket.....locker 211......down at Central Station.....I've gathered evidence against Anthony......bring him down.....take it to Judge Rawlings.....only honest Judge in.....this....town...."
With that; Carl Beck fades away and the three grief-stricken agenst are left with the bodies of fallen O'Connor men; thier fellow agents; a booz truck with 8 barrels of illegal hooch; and a battery of weapons; including a Thompson Submachinegun clutched in "Mad Mikey's" hands; and a large, heavy Browing Automatic Rifle.

"I will, I promise, Beck." Neals says as the man dies in front of him. Following Beck's instructions, he searches the man's pocket for the key.
"Obviously, no need to say ANYTHING about this key to anyone except Rawlings." He says to his fellow agents as he pockets the key himself.
Ignoring his own pain for the moment, he gets to work gathering up the weapons lying about. He also searches the dead men for a key for the booze truck, it'll have to be driven to impound.
"What do you say we smash up all the liquor now, before we have any company?", he asks, "If those lot in impound are as crooked as the rest, this stuff'll be right back in the crim's hands in no time otherwise."

"Absolutely," Johnny Lucky says, looking around for an axe. There should be a fire axe here somewhere, right? If he finds it, he'll use it to bust up the barrels.
As long as he's sure nobody else is going to die, of course.
