Computer gamers are paying £1.8billion per year of real money on virtual items to give them a boost over their gaming rivals... It found that the market for supplying such goods was mature and that the largest of eight Chinese suppliers of virtual gold have an annual turnover of £6.1million each. An additional 50 to 60 firms are raking in around £600,000 every year. The total for virtual sales around the globe is £1.8billion ... Yowza... I would have never guessed that a secondary market so vast would have sprung up. A short cut here or there, okay... But, d**n, why play the game?

Because powergamers aka munchkins aka cheaters have never gotten the point of playing any game. They only believe in "winning" no matter what and playing to have fun is not a concept that they understand. From that link, it says that about 25% of all online players buy virtual supplies i.e. cheat.

Little too bitter for me. Out. I agree, I think this topic has outlived its life and usefulness and is carrying a tone unnecessary. Take it offline, please.

Yes, you and your buddy do need to take it offline. Back when gloriousbattle said I was crazy because I did not agree with him would have been a good time.

I agree. It's not very civilized any more. Oh, well.
