Does the roundhouse show signs of habitation? Is there cooking smoke or anything in the yard around it that can be perceived at a distance?

Poke looks across the bridge and growls softly. "I don't like it. Not at all. It's too easy. I'll scout ahead, and if theother side of the bridge looks safe I'll motion you over."

"Hmm, very well," smiles Roger in response to Poke's instructions. "We'll remain hidden, here. Good fortune go with you, clan brother."

Poke grabs two new spines and conceals them behind his arms as he slowly walks to and out onto the bridge. He uses whatever cover is available as he does this....

Meat walks cautiously over to the roundhouse, but after looking around its perimeter it appears harmless. No sounds can be heard coming from within the roundhouse, and it appears dark inside. The front door is secured solidly, but there is a shed a little ways around the right side of the door. The shed door is cracked in several places and sways on its hinges, making a slight squeak but not much else. You see a mechanical man of some sort, although he appears damaged, as if some great blow dented and cracked the door, and proceeded to do the same to the machine.
Roger and Octavia hang back behind the bushes as Poke makes his way to the bridge, aside from the rustling of some type of small bird beneath the low lying tufts of grass there is no real sign of danger. You can now see the Medlar clearly, its a fairly medium sized tree, long thorns, but likely not a great problem, there are even a few healthy fruits that have managed to survive the birds.
Then you sense it, a mind beneath the tree, someone is there, and with thoughts plagued by pain and confusion. Looking around you see a blood stained patch of tall grass near the trunk of the tree, and can just make out a foot. The tree is surrounded by a large clearing, with no tall trees or bushes in the immediate area.

Poke tries to focus on the thoughts and if possible send reassuring thoughts back like, "Rest, be still, I will do what I can for you." He looks at the Medlar. Does it look like it's branches come to the edge of the clearing?

Hopefully this shows up M=medlar o=small scrub, B=bridge, R=roundhouse, f=forest, p=Path each character is about 10ft.
ooooooooMMooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooBooooooooooooo oooooooooo___B____________ _____________B____________ _____________Boooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooo ffooooooooooooooooooooooooff ffffRoooooooooooooooooooooffff ffRRRooooooooooooooooooffffffff ffffRffffffoooooooffffffffffffffffffffff fffffffffffffpfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffffffpffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
The branches of the medlar hug tight to the tree, which could just as easily be seen as a large bush. Something between a rose bush and an apple tree of moderate size.

"Something is very WRONG here!" Poke yells back to the others. He takes a spine and attempts to hit one of the Medlar fruits to see what happens.

Reddish eyes widening in alarm, Roger begins scuttling forward, to the right and somewhat along the edge of the trees. His arms wave as he goes, one hand clutching his fragment of sharp metal.
His goal? To get close enough to Poke for assistance, but he is not eager to leave the potential for cover.

Sorry, I've started two math courses at the same time, something of a madness on my part. I'll post tomorrow.
... botched that, I'll post tonight though.

Pokes spine strikes the round fruit firmly enough to knock it from the tree, and in a rather Newtonian fashion it falls in a nearly direct line onto the being laying beneath the tree, who proceeds to grunt painfully in response, buts there is only the slightest movement rustling the grass about the creature.
Poke is about 25ft from the tree, Rodger stands uneasily at the edge of the forest near the ravine, made even more uneasy by his constant attempts to get his spare pair of arms to stop performing the ancient dance of the Macarena.
Meat stands at the southern end of the bridge prepared to leap to Pokes assistance, his sense keen, is body tensed at the ready, his slightly generous body portions making the simple rope bridge strain ever so slightly, and then the rather anticlimatic grunt from whatever creature lies beneath the tree, followed by a startling outburst.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" The masculine voice pained, and weak. "Dropping fruit on an injured old man! Were you raised by dogs?"

"My apologies sir, but something seems very wrong. How are you injured? Perhaps my friends and I can help. Is this your home?" Poke edges closer trying to see the man who has spoken to him.

You can see that the man likely hasn't got long to live, he's missing an arm and a leg, an eye, and has a gaping hole in his torso.
"No its not my home, what kinda daft.." a convulsion of pain overtakes him. "Er, you can't help me, unless you have some spare innards in your gunny sack. I've been laying out here for about a day, and I'll likely be finished well before the next." he eyes you closely, "If you're from the village to the south you'd best be getting home. That freak of nature is probably headed there next."

Roger's reddish eyes grow larger, and he hustles across the bridge towards the fallen man. Stopping about eight feet away, he stands feeling at a loss for how to proceed.
"Can I offer you something? A bit of water to dampen your tongue?" He shuffles his feet, then asks, "What is it that attacked you, and why? We must try and save our people if we can."

I've got a bad feeling about this... muses Poke. He steps closer to the man and sees if he can bind up his wounds. "This thing that attacked you, was it two headed?"

I'll assume you mean the Three headed giant you passed in the woods.Cough "He only had the one head before he started chowing down on my kin." You can tell by his sputtering that he doesn't have long, the blood flows freely from his wounds. "Every time it killed someone it'd absorb their bits, getting stronger, and bigger." As the realizations dawn on you the mans passing goes almost unnoticed, his body shutting down in one soft sigh.

Looking sober, Roger rumbles deep in his throat, then says, "I think he is gone now."
After a sigh, he waves the others up to join him. "We must get the medlar quickly, and return home. We must help fight the monster."
Roger snuffles near the body, looking it over for anything that might help their efforts. Then he attempts to retrieve some of the fruit they were sent for.

The fruit poked knocked off the tree was mashed into the grasses by the dying man before he finally shucked this mortal coil, the soil near the tree is moist and easily worked.
While poke works his quills into the soil, digging a shallow grave for the eviscerated man, meat wanders with purpose to the roundhouse and Roger decides to make his way up the medlar in search of usable fruit.
There isn't actually a mechanic detailed in the rules for action resolution, so I'm just going to go with roll + modifiers below score until I think of something better. The tree has thorns, and rogers wild arms provide a +2 to the roll, I rolled a 4, and the resulting 6 is well under his dexterity of 11.
Roger manages to find a small cluster of slightly overripe fruit about 15ft off the ground, and starts the trek down.
Coming down isn't quite as easy, the +2 penalty and roll of 10 result in a 12, going over your score of 11. Roger falls from the tree taking 1d6 damage, 3pts, rogers maximum damage is 27. Having taken 10pts of damage in the combat with the robots, recovering 2pts through rest, and taking the current three pts.
roger falls from the tree directly into the grave dug by Poke with a loud thud, though winded and hurting he is not unconscious.
Meat isn't able to break his way into the door, but one of the windows is broken open..

Roger hits the dirt with a THUD. Also a WHOOF as the air comes forcefully out of him. He staggers upright within the grave, cradling the medlar he's fetched.
"Nooo. Nooo. Help me out of here," he warbles.

Poke shakes his head and gives Roger two hands to help him up with. "Maybe the house will have something we can use as a sack."

Roger pats Poke gratefully, then examines the medlar.
"You are right. That is good thinking. Here, let me help you with the burial. Meat should be back soon and can tell us what is in that round house."
Carefully setting the medlar fruit well to the side, Roger helps Poke finish up.

The two of you complete the burial, leaving the man in what is, perhaps, not the deepest of graves, but at least deep enough to keep most the animals away. (and gaining all kinds of karmic credit with the big colecovision in the sky).
You meet up with Meat who's cautiously looking into the large broken window, through which you can see a small shelf just under the window, inset with two bowls, and beyond that the beginning of the checkerboard patterned floor.
You can't make out much more visually, although you do pick up the moldy scents of dry decayed food through the window, and a low beeping sound much deeper into the house.

"Rrr. Shall we see what may be seen, by going inside? I think it important, and shouldn't take long."
Roger moves towards the door, turning to see if his comrades are accompanying him.

You poke your head in, then out, then in, then out, then you use two of your hands to prevent the other two from pushing you away from the window and manage to keep your head in. You notice that its far too dark to see anything, even with your keen badger eyes, without some form of a torch.

Roger turns his head to his companions and asks, "Could someone, err, light a torch? It's too dark."
Roger then uses his nose (Heightened Smell) to try and determine if anything living is inside (or lairs there).
