Mrs. Monk (yes, that sounds odd) gave birth to our first child on may 26th, so i'vebeen living the new life of a dad for the past month. There have been the normal hardships, but mrs. Monks quite amazing and all has gone rather smoothly. In fact, some unexpected fun has popped up here and there ( I mean in addition to the expected "wow, I have a little daughter" fun).
Relevant here is this bit of fun: mrs. Monk gets pretty lonely feeding the baby in silence at all times of the day and night, so she asked me to read them something. She has never read the hobbit, so I started with that. I must say, we got sucked right in! We are both really enjoying it (she for the first time, me for the 2nd...and it's been a while). It's also gone very quickly! We'll likely finish after about 4 days total. Next, on to the lord of the rings trilogy!

Hahaha! I didn't notice that when I wrote it. That doesn't sound so tempting, hairy feet and all.

That's awesome! There's nothing quite like that first baby... and you're making sure very important words like "wizard" and "elf" and "dragon" and "dwarf", not to mention "hobbit", are safely nestled in her neocortex for the rest of her life!

A Princess of Mars also has some great tip on becoming a southern gentleman, but those should be locked tightly away for the boys

Congratulations on the new daughter! I was positively thrilled when my then 3 year old started repeating "orc", "goblin" and "wizard" when I showed her my gaming minis. Last weekend she bought her first dice by herself. Look forward to all the awesome sharing!

I'll keep fueling the fire, hoping that I form a little gamer. Thanks for the well wishes, guys. Thorswulf, that's awesome news! Hope you have some excellent adventures with her.
