Sili, Dernfara and Eohild continue the fight against the enraged Troll with arrows of Elvish make sticking from its carapace, as Legandir sweeps in to join the assault -- Morfil gleaming like ice in the dark.
Initiative is rolled [1d6; Sili=2, Dernfara=2, Eohild=5, Legandir=3+1, Troll=1]. This time the Troll is over-whelmed by the raining blows, with attacks coming fast from all around [1d20;3,15,13,3]. It is the spears of the Rohirrim that pierce it deep for [2dd=4,3 and 2,6] 5 and 8 hit points, and the monster is bested, collapsing with a thunderous din.

Meanwhile Norin, Soval, Elindir and Barald fight on against the horned-helmed Troll. Initiative is rolled [1d6; Norin=3, Soval=4, Elindir=4+1, Barald=5, Troll=5].
The monster pounces aggressively at Soval as he scrambles to find his feet and keep the lantern burning, at the same moment Elindir and Barald take their opportunity. [1d20; Troll=5, Elindir=1, Barald=12]. Soval rolls aside to dodge an elephant blow, and somehow keeps the lantern alight. Elinder gets elbowed in the face by one of his allies in the wild press, and his moment passes, while Barald the Old Boar of Mirkwood finds renewed courage in his heart, but his axe glances away from the Troll's scaly and mailed back without dint. But it is enough for Soval and Norin to find space to attack [1d20; Soval=9, Norin=20!]. Soval is back on his feet with a few wild slashes but Norin squints one eye and give evil aim to his mighty hammer, and with feet planted wide knocks the Troll a telling blow for [6DD=4,3,2,6,3,6] 14 hit points the send it reeling -- but even this isn't enough to fell it!

Now Einar and Lomeluin close with the third Troll, coming to the aid of Nat and Hallam who are in truth outclassed.
Initiative is rolled [1d6; Nat=6, Hallam=3, Troll=6]. This monster has its wits about it and smashes fiercely at [1-3=Hallam, 4-5=Nat; 1d6=3] Hallam as Nat strikes again from its flank [1d20; Troll=11, Nat=7]. By great fortune Hallam deflects the powerful blow off his shield, but Nat's blow likewise glances off the monster's thick hide.
Now Hallam, Einer and at the last Lomeluin reply [1d20=13,17,12], but it is Einer who strikes true with his grim sword [2dd=4,5] for 5 hit points. The Troll howls savagely and fights on!
Legandir steps deftly over the body of the slain enemy even as the spears of the Rohirrim are being drawn from its flesh, and moves to the aid of Soval and company, bringing the eye of Morfil to bear on the new enemy.
Smiling grimlly - for despite these creatures' great size, Soval believes the party to have their measure - Soval continues laying into the mighty monster with his sword, trusting his men to continue the fight on their end as well.

The shouting, clanging and howling rings out unabated!
Sili and Legandir swoop in from the flank of the great-helmed Troll, now beset amid numbers. Initiative is rolled [1d6; Sili=2, Legandir=4, Elindir=4, Soval=4, Barald=6, Norin=5, Troll=6].
The Troll lashes out with sudden vigour, catching [1=Sili, 2=Legandir, 3=Elindir, 4=Soval, 5=Barald, 6=Norin;1d6=2] Elindir off guard [1d20=14] with a frightening bludgeon of its mighty paw for [4dd=4,5,6,2] 8 hit points, smashing his Elvish shield into a hundred splinters.
Barald attacks at the same moment, and then the remainder of the melee group counter strike [1d20; Sili=15, Legandir=9, Elindir=11, Soval=15, Barald=10, Norin=2] with Sili and Soval both striking true. Sili's flail lands another ringing blow for [2dd=3,5] 7 hit points, as Soval simultaneously punches his sword point through the giant's stone hard gut, running it through for [2dd=3,3] a further 9 hit points. With all these blows raining down upon it the monster capitulates, and is cut, slashed, and beaten, dashed and hatcheted bloodily unto its ignoble death.

Meanwhile, Lomeluin and the hired help has a serious fight on their hands.
Initiative is rolled [1d6; Lomeluin=6, Hallam=6, Einar=2, Nat=2, Troll=4]. Lomeluin and Hallam are quickest on the offense [1d20; Lomeluin=16, Hallem=9] and Lomeluin's moonlight blade cuts deeply, splitting Troll scales and spilling its black blood for [2dd=3,2] 4 hit points.
And then the roaring monster retaliates, focusing all its terrible weight upon [1=Lomeluin, 2=hallam, 3=Einer, 4=Nat; 1d4=1] Lomeluin -- the Age old Trollish hatred of Elves boiling up at the last -- [1d20=2] but its hurts are many, rage clouding its dim judgement, and Lomeluin dodges easily aside with sharp Elvish efficiency. Then it is Einer and Nat's blades that fall upon its scaled back [2d20=7,10], but all are deflected harmlessly against its tough scales.

While the fighting persists Eremin attempts to rouse Vestri the beaten Dwarf by slapping his grubby, bearded face, but to no avail. Perhaps some water splashed on his face will do better, thinks Eremin, fumbling for his flask...

While the tumult and clamour is occurring, Celglin slips over the dark passage way from whence the Trolls emerged. All is dark, cool, and ominous it that direction. His eyes cannot penetrate the darkness, and nor can his sharp ears discern anything over the incredible racket of the fighting behind him...

The last Troll barges away from the main part of the fighting, directly away from Sili, Norin and their allies -- and directly toward the terrified Dwarf Hepti!
Lomeluin and Einer stand in the way, with Nat and Hallam harrying its scaly flanks.
Initiative is rolled [1d6; Lomeluin=3, Einer=6, Nat=3, Hallam=6, Troll=1] and the company fall upon the fleeing Troll vehemently, weapons chopping and slashing!
[4d20=11,6,14,9] blows rain down, deflecting this way and that, but it is Nat's flail that delivers the mortal blow [2dd=6,6!] crushing the back of its skull with an audible crack, splashing Hepti in the face with a black gout of mushed Troll brain and gore as the great monsters clatters to the ground only inches from the trembling torch bearer's feet.
