Fated to Die and Thug Slave move out of the line of fire, away from the White Men, and to as safe a place as possible.

Breath of New Moon turns, her glaive at the ready. She holds her position.

Minion begins cleaving the devolved white men with his green axe, hitting them as they emerge from the hole in hopes of plugging the hole with their bodies!

The Shadow points at the foreman and shouts, "You're mine!" Then he brings his flail about to the foreman's skull.

Fated thinks the safest place is on board the rescue Monorail where they are loading the other passengers, does that sound good?
Breath is going to hold position near the archers. Eye (currently an NPC) will stand with her.
Minion wants to cut down the Diseased Ones one by one (Thermopylae-style) as they emerge from the passage (but likely preventing the archers from getting a clear shot).
Shadow doesn't see the Foreman yet (only the first of his Diseased White Men), but standing at the front with Minion seems like the best chance of a show-down.
Does that sound accurate? Any changes/additions before the action starts?

Sounds right to me. If there is ever a break in the flow of Diseased White Men, I'll step back a bit to give the archers a better shot through the hole.

The Sovereign Mask of All Who See likewise charges, flail swinging, at the foreman.

The Sovereign Mask of All Who See likewise charges, flail swinging, at the foreman. The Foreman is nowhere to be seen. Do you wish to help Minion attack the Diseased Guardians emerging from the side-passage? That is your best option if you're looking for melee action.

OOC: Ahhh... I get it now. Sorry, I was slightly confused by "train boss" and "foreman".
The two train men are calling out to their boss, who is NOT the same as the foreman (with the white goons), right? Right.
Sorry. On the first read, I thought the two train men saw the foreman crawling out of the hole and were calling him their boss. Glad I didn't say I was going to swing my flail at one of the train men!
In that case...
IC: The Shadow says, "Quick! Make a path for the train men to use their crossbows as the white men come out of the opening. Line up on either side and we'll close in to keep them contained so too many don't come out at once!" He grabs his flail and stands out of the line of fire, but close enough to the entrance that he can swing his flail at the first white man who breaks free from the opening.

Sorry for the confusion. Train Boss is not the same person as Foreman of the Central Shaft.
As far as you know, Train Boss is here to rescue you. So far you haven't seen him, just heard his voice...

Thaimos will bravely board the monorail near Fated.
[OOC: My apologies: I have been out pretty badly with a summer cold. Fever broke a short while ago, and my appetite has returned]

Round One
The Train Men fire from their crossbows, (1d6=3) skewering the lead Diseased Guardian through the thigh and skull!
Shadow lunges past the opening and sets up a flanking maneuver! Minion and The Sovereign Mask move into position, surrounding the brick opening and bringing their arms to bear against the advancing subhumans.
Minion begins cleaving with his green axe (Armoured Foot vs Light Foot kills on 4-6... 4+1=5 hits!) and plugs the hole with the body of the second creature!
Soverign Mask (4+1=5) snaps the neck of the third creature with his flail-chain and Shadow pulverizes a fourth with the 7 urchin-shaped heads of his flail (6+1=7!)
The unmortared brickwork collapses in a cloud of violence. The passage is completely clogged with rubble and stack of four de-animated Guardians!

Mirthful Doomed, Thaimos, Fated to Die, and Thug Slave board the Monorail train. Along the way, you pass Train Boss, a burly Green Man wearing rusty chainmail and carrying a large metal flashlight. He is followed by six crossbow-wielding Train Men.
Train Boss acknowledges your presence, "Get on board!!!" and dashes off toward the melee.
The Monorail is crowded with frightened and wounded passengers. They tell you they stayed alive by locking themselves in the baggage car. A few survivors wandered off down the tunnel in the opposite direction and were never seen again.

With a note of surprise in his voice (no facial expressions for bone men.. heh) Minion says "it worked."
"To the train then?"

The Shadow nods, "Let's leave the rest to them," and he jerks his head at the approaching crossbowmen.
He starts walking to the train and hops in the car.

Fated to Die: "Thug Slave, you are far too frail a flower to be trusted to the battlefield. Give me your chainmail to wear - you are hereby promoted to Pack Slave. Take these bags.
"Does anyone need a halberd? I seem to have a spare..."

"ALL ABOARD!" As soon as Breath of New Moon steps on board, the engineer releases the steam-brakes and the train begins rolling backward to the East. With the locomotive pushing in reverse from the rear of the train, it is a slow start to gradually build speed.
As you roll past the combat site, you see the bricks and rubble begin to stir--something is trying to break through! The Train Men grab onto the railing of the accelerating train. Last of all is the Train Boss hanging from the locomotive's smokestack and aiming his crossbow one-handed at any pursuers.
Soon the crash site and battlefield are out of sight and the Monorail has reached its full speed. The other passengers give you a wide berth (the gore still drips from your weapons!) and you are able to get comfortable. You learn the plan is to shuttle everyone to the train yard in nearby Aylesbury, where the wounded can receive first aid and everyone can get a good meal.
Though the ride is not as smooth as your original, more-modern train, the rhythmic vibration of the track makes you exceedingly drowsy. Exhausted from your ordeal, some of you drift off into a welcome sleep...

Breath of New Moon, Mirthful Doomed and Fated to Die have the strangest dream, set in a bubbling swamp with a thousand foul odors...
Breath and Mirthful are slightly-distorted versions of themselves and can control their actions as a lucid dream. Fated to Die is a magnificent jale pterodactyl soaring high overhead, with animal intelligence and no knowledge of his waking self!
A short, brown lizard-man is standing nearby, chanting and performing some kind of yoga as he watches the sun rise over the teeming wetlands. He seems surprised by your sudden appearance! He does not draw his sword from its ornate sheath, but rather jumps onto his steed--a giant brown lizard--and races deeper into the swamp!

Breath of New Moon does not question her sudden presence in the swamp, somehow it seems natural that she should be here with the Mirthful Doomed.
Sighting the lizard-man race off, she moves over to where the lizard-man was sitting to see if he left anything behind in his haste.

Fated to Die glides majestically up the rising thermals. Seeing movement below, he squares his aim and launches a stream of poop at the tiny figures.

Breath of New Moon searches the ground and discovers an amber amulet on a leather string.
On the amulet is engraved the image of a lizard-man wearing an amulet. Looking closer you see the amulet in the picture is engraved with a tiny image of a lizard-man wearing an amulet, with an image of a lizard-man wearing an amulet, with... (save vs. spells = 16) Your fascination with the infinitely-recursive amulet is interrupted by a perfectly-aimed stream of pterodactyl droppings!
The swamp is ripe with strange gasses; it is difficult to stay focused. You fight the impulse to lay down and take a nap amongst the flowers and vines...

The new Pack Slave strips out of his Master's chainmail, grumbling about his demotion.
While Breath, Fated, and Mirthful are sleeping, the rest of you are free to interact with the passengers, the train crew, or your fellow PCs as you wish...

"There be treasure here!" says The Mirthful Doomed. He kneels down and probes the brack and grime of the swamp.
... The plop of pterodactyl poop startles him. He stands and shakes his fist at the sky.

The Mirthful Doomed kneels and probes the earth. The mud is cool and pleasing to the touch. Tiny specks of some mineral sparkle in the early morning sun. You'd like nothing better than to spend the morning running your hands through the mud, rubbing it over your body, lying in the sun, but your hands... your HANDS... are fading... fading... fading...

The engineer lets out a loud blast of his steam-horn as the backwards-moving Monorail emerges from the eastern gate. You are free of the haunted tunnel!
Mirthful Doomed and Breath of New Moon are jolted from their slumber and remember every detail of their strange, shared dream. Fated closes his eyes, feeling refreshed, with only a distant memory of a wonderful soaring sensation.
Your travails lasted through the night, now it is early morning. The bright sun seems plastic and artificial after the prolonged blackness under the Mountain.
The Monorail chugs eastward toward the town of Aylesbury...

Awakened by the horn blast, the Sovereign Mask of All Who See turns to his companions and asks drowsily, "So what now?" After so much terror and battle, the purple man is ready for a nice meal.
