Stupid question(s)...
I'm printing out the OD&D PDF's that I was lucky enough to obtain before the WOTC purge (in booklet format). Having never had the pleasure of owning the original books, I have a few formatting questions.
As I understand it, the inside covers contain publishing info, but do they have anything else (i.e. artwork on the inside front/back cover and back of booklets)?
What is the layout of the first few pages? Is it pg1 = title page, pg2 = index, etc., or are there blank pages in between?
Is the large B&W "comic" art at the end of the PDF part of the cover, or is it the last page of the internal signature/folio?

Not such a stupid question, really. And even if it were, don't stop asking until you understand! We love to help.
There is some artwork on an inside back cover; I think it's volume III (the illustration of elementals). So that should answer your last question first.
Yes, p1 is title page, 2 is index, 3 starts the meat of the book.
I think that's it, but if you have any more questions, we're here for you.

Thanks Coffee! Just wanted to make sure I was printing them out correctly (I was getting tired of lugging my laptop about every time I wanted to do some OD&D reading -- there's no convenient place to put it when you're in the bathroom )!

That's one of the reasons I got an iPad...but I still don't take it into the bathroom.

Yeah, funny story about that. I had read that thread a few months back and it's sort of what inspired me to print out the PDF's. I had originally just printed them out as-is on paper (for bathroom reading ), but now I'm wanting to print them out on nice colored card stock (no white borders) for the table. Soooo... I just spent the last two days painstakingly researching the correct fonts and assembling PDF's of plain white covers that very closely match the 6th printing covers... only to go back and reread that thread and notice that someone was kind enough to do ALL THREE BOOKLETS IN THEIR ENTIRETY. I'm going to go cry in the corner now...

Well, cry on the cheap copies then. That way, you won't have to reprint the classier ones.
Speaking of classy, I printed a set on parchment paper and used fake leather covers (with the actual covers as stickers on the front). That turns some heads, let me tell you! I think that was on the other thread, but I thought I'd repeat it anyway.
I don't take those into the bathroom, either!

Alright, here's my first attempt. The covers are 65# cardstock (which seems like it's the right weight, but the grain is wrong and I'm having a difficult time folding them in half (even with scoring). I like the color; I think it's close (it's the tan/brown stock in the multi-color earth-tone pack you can get at WalMart for $4. (Does one use "coverstock" or "cardstock" for this?) I made the cover images myself using various weights of the Quentin, Franklin, and Futura fonts, and matched the tint of the images/fonts to my RPGNow scans. The red used for M&M is just "Red" in Word, which is probably a little too red (I'll likely do dark red next time). They aren't perfect, but they're close enough for me. These will be my non-bathroom table copies. Attachments:

Very nice!
If you want to make the fold sharper for the covers, just go over it with a rolling pin. (Not just for baking!)
